Just got back into the game...Follow

...and was Retribution to 70 and played for a two weeks after hitting 70/about the same time Arena ranked started. At the time my gear was pretty solid and Thunder was one of the better weapons, I was just gonna level my alts for the expansion, but I played some BG's last night and didn't do half bad. I was nowhere near the top three in all categories like before but that was large in part due to poor gear and the fact it might be time to give up the Ret-ways. I love being Ret for PvP, but it sucks knowing I'm useless in the real game...I'd like to raid every now and then.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I have a full-time job and work six to seven days a week, so being a constant raider isn't exactly easy. I'm willing to re-spec, but don't really know how to play the Shockadin...Holy doesn't seem hard since I've healed in lvl 60 raids.

The problem with re-speccing is, on Cho'gall there is nothingon the AH that could give me a solid transition. Not to Shockadin at all, some items for Holy. The High Marshal gear is poor, and I haven't found an Arena partner. The other thing is, I'd like to be able to heal in raids, but be a viable weapon in PvP. Any advice at all, gear-wise or talent speccing would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

pvp/raid healing you're probably going to want to go 41/20/0 and for gear start hitting up instances for rep gear and once you get halfway decent gear start hitting up the heroics and you can fill your gear out well enough to get into kara.

How you decide to gear out largely depends what you like to do and have time to do. You don’t have to run instances. You can get Kara-ready in mostly pvp gear and for someone with time constraints, who likes the pvp, it might be the better way to go. Another thing to consider is the fact that you’ll lack resilience with a pve gearset and won’t be as tough in a pvp settting.

Plus you can always trade out pieces for more pve oriented ones as you advance, essentially you’ll be trading resilience/stamina for mp/5 in most cases.

I noticed you said Shockadin, my advice was for a 41/20/00 Healbot. For a Shockadin you can do well in BGs but they are not really sought after for arenas. Everyone is in love with the 41/20/00 Healadin. I pve, I’m not sure how viable they are in raids because they lack some of the core healing talents that Healadins have.
