Circle of Healing?Follow

hey, currently this is my build for when i respec:

i have not included Circle of healing because i think that having mental strength and divine Spirit is better, along with Imp Spirit.

What level are you respeccing at? 70? For the most part, it's a very good build.

Lightwell is called Lolwell for a reason. It's about the worst place your can put the point. Don't try rationalizing it as worth it in certain situations either - it's not. The only time I can see it being marginally useful is fights where the raid shouldn't be taking any environmental/AoE damage anywho.

Mental Strength is only good in PvP and 5-mans. By the time you get to heroics and raids, the Clearcasting and extra healing from EmpHealing by far eclipses that minuscule amount of mana. Clearcasting combined with Inner Focus can potentially get in multiple ticks of spirit regen - and one CC proc in and of itself gives back almost as much mana than 5 points in Mental Strength! So, I'd take a build something like this.

Circle of Healing only really becomes powerful once you get into TK, SSC, to some extent Mag, and Netherspite, at which points you're taking more and more raid-wide damage (essentially every trash pull until Void Reaver, at least, in The Eye). Until then, the previous build will suffice. If you get into TK/SSC, I'd suggest something more along the lines of this, grabbing Circle of Healing and Spell Warding, to reduce some of the AoE damage you take, since you'll be taking spell damage in almost every single fight. Spell Warding is the one talent that's really debated as useful or not; if you don't feel it's worth it, stick those points in Healing Prayers, Absolution, and/or Mental Agility.

I agree generally with Isfreak, but I have some specific disagreements. For the first build, the 23 Disc/ 38 Holy, I view the points in Imp. Shield and Martyrdom as wasted. They're good in PvP, but not good in raid healing. You don't use Shield so much, and if you get crit in raids you've probably just been turned into a puddle of goo. I would put the points into Silent Resolve instead. There are a fair number of aggro-sensitive fights, and pulling aggro as a healer is terrifically bad.

Same sort of deal with the second build. I would prefer Silent Resolve over Imp Shield. The Spell Warding is an interesting choice, but I personally would prefer Healing Prayers and/or Mental Agility. Mental Agility is especially good if you plan to actually use CoH a lot. Absolution is not as good as either of those talents. It's a more significant return for a lower cost, but raid fights of late have dramatically scaled down the Dispeling/ Curing Disease requirements. Absolution is much less useful than either MA or HP.

Agree with Isfreak's opinion on Mental Strength. Mental Strength is NOT worth it unless you go all the way and get Power Infusion. In raid fights, the vast majority of your mana is from regeneration; the size of your starting pool is not nearly as important.

Here's the deal with these two builds. I've done the math in a previous thread to illustrate that Improved Divine Spirit adds more to a 10-man raid (and much MUCH more to a 25-man raid) than Empowered Healing. Speccing Circle of Healing is fine... IF you've got sufficient priests to cover Improved Divine Spirit. Such is the situation with my guild. Circle of Healing is a decent talent that definitely has its uses; recently we had a priest spec into it. The reason he was able to is because we always have another priest in the raid to handle IDS. Divine Spirit and IDS add more to a raid overall; but if that is covered, then by all means get CoH. After all, multiple priests with IDS don't get to stack it.

Eh... it's one useless thing for another. The ONLY times we've ever had healers pull aggro is when they get off huge heals right at the start of the fight, which shouldn't be happening. Within the first 5 seconds of the pull, all the DPS are above the healers and putting out between 2 and 4 times the thread. Talents like Silent Resolve merely decide which healer dies first during a wipe. It's marginally more useful in 5-mans and heroics. For PvP, SR is probably better for keeping your Shield/Fort/Renew from being dispelled.

Yea, if you're not going to go for Spell Warding, Mental Agility would probably be your best option.

Though I included that, in raids, you want one priest with DS. Oops >.>

well 1st off id like to say that im going to need a strong raid build, sure ill do some pvp, but im not heavy on pvp. maybe for a random item or two. thank you very much for your input.

Hi all,

as I have another question about CoH i thought why not post it here than start a new thread :)

The tooltip reads "Heals friendly target and that target's party members". So does this mean if I use it in a raid with maybe 3 melee who all take dmg but are in diffent groups within the raid, only the one I cast CoH on gets healed and the 2 others that aren't in his/her group won't or does party in this case mean raid aswell so everyone in range gets healed?

Pretty sure it means what it says, that it only heals people in the targets party. Ie, you cast it on a rogue. 2 other rogues are in his group but the two dps warriors are not. Only the rogues get the heal if they are in range. Otherwise CoH would be INSANE if it healed anyone in the raid in range of the target person.

I have in mind a few fights that involve aggro resets, such as Hydross and Leotheras the Blind. In Karazhan and Gruul (which I suppose is what the OP was asking about >.>), sure, it's not as big a deal.

I myself love CoH. My guild has another healer who does DS and IDS for Kara, so I don't have to worry about it. I like the uses of CoH in dungeons. Fights like the last boss in heroic mana tombs, CoH becomes very strong. When a large group are taking small amounts of damage, and you can easily heal them just enough to get through the fight, and is immediate cast, it is very strong. Throw in a fight light the meteor guys in Arc, and I can generally heal as much doing healing by throwing out CoH's then a prayer of Healing over the amount of time, healing everyone. While there are few uses for the spell, it is amazingly powerful for what it does.

Looking at going holy both for PvE (just about through kara) and for PvP, arena and some BGs.

Points;
Imp mana burn as it's a god send in 5v5 when your not getting hit
lolnova as i find rank 1 is useful for finding stealthers

I've been shadow for a long time and i now what to see the light, any tips would be great! Renew always on, PoM when off CD (in the right situation) and then low rank heal and max rank on clearcasts is the general process for single target i guess?
