PvP jones and levelingFollow

I am to the point where I think I have read too much about specs, including the mut. discussion which made my head spin:

I am mostly interested in PvP. Also, I don't have an end-game toon yet (my highest is a 31 Nelf rogue). The way I see it, I have two options.
First, I could power level my 31 rogue to end-game on the PvE server, which I have to assume is easier to level up than a PvP server with gankage. Once I hit 70 I could focus on PvP competition, and most definitely spec mut. The con of this choice is simply that I am finding leveling to be boring, and PvP play INCREDIBLY fun.
Second, I could change my main to a PvP server, level with talents that help PvP the most. This way I could PvP effectively, and level when I get tired of being ganked. This path will take much longer to get to end-game, obviously.

Since I have no knowledge of what end-game play is like, I really am in no place to make this decision without advice... this includes no knowledge of raiding (is it like an Uber-instance?). I seek advice because the time it takes to level to end-game is not insignificant.
I wonder if avid and successful PvP rogues might post how you chose to level? My ultimate goal is to play a very competitive arena rogue.

The difference between a PvP server and PvE server is pretty small, to be honest. You don't really get ganked that much on PvP, but you do get to do plenty of ganking since we're hard to catch and next to impossible to detect when approaching our victims. I'd recommend playing PvP just so you would have the occasional PvP moments, which helps to relieve the monotony of the grind immensely.

As for a raid, it's an instance that requires more than 5 people. Kara is the first one in Outlands, which takes 10. Gruul is next, which is 25, then Magtheridon (25), Serpentshrine Caverns (25), The Eye (25), Mount Hyjal (25) and finally Black Temple (25). A new one is in the works, The Sunwell, which is also 25. There used to be 20 and 40 man raids, but those are pretty much gone forever.

Well, to be honest, I didn't think that gankage was too big of an issue (I only have toons on pvp servers). Sure there are a lot of people that do it, but I don't think it really slowed down my leveling experience at all. That being said, I don't really think it matters until lvl 70. This is where you can exert yourself a bit in world pvp. If someone is farming the same spot you are, it's not a race to see who can get to the mobs first, its a deathmatch (or several) for farming rights. The only thing that really kinda irks me is town pvp. I generally have windows up while in towns (Ogri'la, area52, gadgetzan, and BB come to mind) since I have a purpose for being there and am not really looking to pvp, so I generally have to do a little forced jogging.

Of course, as far as BGs go, you can do that on either. One thing to note however, is that to be really competitive in the bgs, you will need to gear up for it because so many ppl have twinks that will just eat you alive. Sure they are a good experience, but you will have different skills at 70, so your playstyle will be different. Also, the honor return for time invested is really rather dismal.

Please note that you cannot change toons from a pve server to pvp.

If your ultimate goal is to go mutilate and play a very competitive arena rogue, my advice would be to level to 70 and then start pvping. I'm not saying spend a little time in the bgs; I'm saying that you will get a better return for time invested at level 70. The best damage mutilate build isn't available til lvl 70 and neither is arena, so you don't have much choice as far as your ultimate goal is concerned. Follow the advice in the stickies/build threads here, get a leveling guide, and find a partner for those pesky group quests. You'll be in the arena before you know it.
