Ditching Scrub Gear Post 70Follow

So mid-afternoon yesterday I finally made it to level seventy. If you look at my armory you'll see that I haven't been running instances or paying much attention to gear. I have a bunch of quest blues by my stats are rather weak. I have low hit points, a low chance to crit, low damage daggers, low hit and no resilience whatsoever.

While I will begin the process of attunement for end-game instancing, my true focus is going to be on PvP. With patch 2.3 approaching, I've been mulling over the most efficient way of gearing myself.

I have one Ced's carver on the way from our guild bank, and I'll probably grab another off the auction house. That at least will take me beyond 70dps - that's not arena quality but it should be sufficient for battlegrounds.

I'm going to join an Arena team as soon as possible, to learn and to farm points - but I doubt I'll spend any until I approach the point cap.

I'm going to spend the majority of my on-line time in battlegrounds, farming for honor rewards. My idea is to start collecting those items that wont be replaced by arena gear - bracers, waist, cloak, rings, trinkets, etc.

As far as build goes, I'm considering dropping my Mut/sub for Theo's Mut/combat. I'm not sure though - in Alterac Valley having those shorter cooldowns and faster stealths may be more beneficial. I suppose I'll try both and see which I enjoy playing more.

My question, basically, is does this seem like a good plan? Farming the 'off' items first? Holding out my arena points for the patch?

What advice can you experienced PvP'ers give to a scrub regarding collecting gear after hitting the level cap?

Thank you.

Eon,

Where to start. If your focus is going to be on PvP and arenas, then you really need to focus on getting your honor rewards ASAP. Personally I'd get the level 70 class rewards before picking up the Veterans gear simply because they cost about 40% less. So you can get more gear sooner. Obviously get the pieces that are the biggest upgrade first. This is going to be quite the grind though.

In the mean time, there are a number of great quest rewards. Get your helm of second sight and/or helm of the claw. Also, according to my rogue spreadsheet the Claw of the Netherwing flight is better than a Ced's Carver for mutilate, so make sure you do that quest line. Check out www.wow-loot.com for a list of all the good quest rewards.

Also, you really need to address your attack power, hit and stam. As a 41/0/20, you've got barely enough hit to not miss your specials. That's fine for PvP, but horrible for PvE. Consider switching to a 41/20/0 build to pick up precision, as I'd venture to guess that you'll be losing some of that hit rating as you pick up your PvP pieces. Your stam and attack power are also really low. Both will get better as you improve your gear, but don't expect to win much in the arenas if you start with that gear.

Good luck and have fun gearing up.

2 piece of the blue set... then get your pvp epix

twin blue 71 dps weapons do fine in arena.... not super but shouldnt force you to lose every single match

work on stam first for pvp... even a green "of stamina" piece is a good help! i used a 61 stam belt for a while when i first started

i get (in order of my preference)

buy a thick felsteel necklace (crafted) and heavy adamantite ring (crafted)
blue pvp chest and gloves (stam gem it... 150 hp enchant too)
2 min CD pvp trinket (thats the 20 resil one)
vet bracers
pvp epic cloak
vet belt
vet boots

First, gratz on reaching 70!!

Your plan is good, in my opinion. Before buying stuff, consider there'll be some better rewards in the near future (cloak, bracers, belt, boots I believe). I think the necklace (Veteran's Pendant of Triumph) would be a good start.

As you already mention yourself, get two decent daggers FAST. Another Ced's will cost only around 50G.

Get some enchants. The +AP on bracers/gloves is relatively cheap, but you need it since your AP is quite low atm.

I would advise to respec to 41/20/0 muti. I did it a while ago, and my damage increased greatly. Since your DPS isn't great already at the moment, you need everything you can get. The sub stuff won't help much in BG's, better get more damage (and Improved Sprint + Improved Gouge!!).

Good luck. Enjoy the level 70 world!

Gratz on 70.

Couple people ahead of me suggested getting 2 pc blue set. I would go a step further by suggesting the gloves + w/e. They really won't make much of a difference in the bgs, but could tip the tide for you in arena. The shoulders are the next cheapest piece to buy and well worth it imo. Your resilence is gonna jump up ~65 from just those two pieces for a paltry 20k honor or so. I'm pretty sure you're going to use your arena points for weapons first, so you will most likely be using any armor bought with honor for awhile. This is just my $.02.

Grat's on Hitting 70 mate.

First off, I'm mutilate/sub myself.
Awesome combo if you ask me.

Ced's is decent for off hand, tho for main hand there are so many better..
Try running a few Sethekk halls for Assassionation Sholders and
Shadow Labyrinth for Assassionation Leggings.
Helm of Second Sight from Shadowmoon Valley quest wil last you quite awhile.
For back and Bracers, get the Vetern's PVP Reward.

This is basicly what I'm using untill I can gear up better.
This equipment will get you by to say the least.

My Armory Profile ^^b

I am a 43/0/18 Build btw, Few extra points in Assassionation helps ^^
Tho at 70 You shouldn't have any greens.
Try running instances to hook yourself up, Don't start and only rely on PvP
to get gear untill You are able to hold your own.
Rogue's are aften KoS in most Battlegrounds and Trust me, You will have warriors who will do nothing but camp you ^^

This is mainly for AB, WSG and EotS. AV is more off a PVE Free for All.
Learn to know what spec's you can take.
Avoid Warrior's and Paladin's unless you have someone with you.
Hunter's are sorta ok.. as long as they are tergeting someone else ;P
Warlocks are fun and sorta hard, but if you time your stun's and kicks right, You shouldn't really have any problems.
There are many types of warlocks.
The easiest ones are the ones with the imp. Felgaurd Locks are alittle more difficult to handle.
But the 2 worst ones are Succubus locks and Voidwalker Locks..
Otherwise known as. Suduce DoT's and Sacerfice DoT Fear Master. (Mainly what I like to call them :P )
Oh and Just avoid lock's with felhunter.. to much of a hassle trying to stay out of Parrinoia area.
As mutilate, Elemental(Not the one's who just kite you with Frost Shock, Avoid thoses.), Resto Shamans are easy.
Fire Mage's are Mmmmm good :D
Priests. Theses are your main target no matter what.
And after you blow You're PvP Trinket, Vanish, sap them, switch trinkets to something that will help you're crit rating.
Then Gorrette. And finish them.

Although. From what I see and Hear. Mace Combat Sub spec's will tear almost anything apart.
