Funny test: protection dps and Force Reactive DiskFollow

Heya,

Just wanted to share this with you for your entertainment.

The creation of my paladin started quite a time ago with the sole reason to redo the one-man-shows you can see on video.google.com with pallies soloing the entire SM cath. Yes I know it is easy (do now that is) and yes I have come to love my paladin more than my other chars, by FAR.

Now this weekend I decided to do something fun (at least I thought it was), crafted myself a Force Reactive Disk (look it up if you do not know this thing, it does damage to everyone near you when you block and possibly damages itself too in the process) and went to SM cath again.

(As a sidenote: I have quite lousy green/blue quest gear only except for the crystal-forged sword, which is nice.)

What I wanted to test is how much dps does the Force Reactive Disk add with so many enemies around you? Mind you, I did only use my selfbuffs (including avenging wrath, 20 secs of 30% increased damage I deal myself (consecration etc), but not damage done by the shield).

The results? Shocking! (literally since the Disk does electrical damage /smile) The time shown is the time until all mobs die except for the resurrecter.

- First try, normal blue shield level 66 (wayward footknight shield or something like that), 58 seconds recorded, average dps was 2800 (162K damage over 58 secs).
- Second try, Force Reactive Disk, 34 seconds recorded, average dps was 4800 (163K damage over 35 seconds).

So the shield accounted for about 2000 dps recorded over more than 30 secs! /cheer

Naturally this is just a test, the shield is still crap at other levels because it gets damaged by itself quite some (50% chance on block I guess) and the damage output is quite low, so not useless at higher levels.

Still quite impressive to see.
