Macros and targetingFollow

#1 Oct 07 2007 at 2:32 PM Rating: Decent
I've just started running instances. A couple of times the tank has targetted mobs out of my LoS. Hitting <tab> doesn't allow me to target any of those mobs. I'm left trying to scramble or spamming <tab> in order to get to my specific mob that I'm supposed to cc. I'm wondering if setting a macro is possible in order to target your mob. In other words, set up something like "/target square" so that I can just hit the macro instead of trying to spam the <tab> key. A few times I just couldn't target my mark in time. Anyone?

'/target square' doesnt work.
What you can do is use
'/assist focus' or '/assist <name of tank>'

though i cant remember how you set your tank to be focus, havent had my coffee yet ;P

I have a assit focus macro. I hit that after trapping MY mob. However, when all the mobs are marked, and I am responsible for cc'ing the blue square, hitting tab or mouse clicking doesn't work because the mobs are around a corner, or in the next room. The mobs don't become targetable until they are pulled, at which time I need to somehow target my mark quickly and pull to my trap before the MT gets it's aggro. Just wondered if there was an ez way of targeting my mob.

If the tank can see the mobs to mark them, you can see the mobs to target them. I always have the mob marked for me to trap targeted before the pull. That way there's no confusion, mistargeting, or unnecessarily delays. I can stand where the tank is when he/she is marking, target my mob as soon as the mark goes on, and then run back to where the fighting will be. As soon as my mob is in sight after the pull, shoot, draw it into your trap, and then use your assist focus macro to lay down some dps as appropriate. Good Hunters tend to be very mobile in groups. It just doesn't work to hang back with the casters and wait until the pull has happened to get organized and squared away for the trap.
