Hi, my paladin is currently 55 but i have a 70 mage and priest that are kara raiding.

I've got a couple of questions regarding ret and a couple of ideas for what i think would help the PvE situation.

Q1 - The talent crusade, does this affect PvP targets?
Q2 - Pursuit of Justice, same speed bonus as minor speed enchant, fairly useless?
Q3 - Vindication, how much damage reduction does this give in practice? Noteable for raids.

I1 - Vengeance, the bonus damage could not create any extra threat. This gives in long fights a 15% threat reduction pretty much which i believe matches what warriors have.
I2 - Similar deal with sanctity aura, maybe also the imp.

Lastly would http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/paladin/talents.html?5000000000000000000010000000000000000000000523035102003125331051 be good for a lv 60 retadin (staying 60 to pvp a bit) then go down to BoK for 70?

Thanks for any input (i know ret isn't that viable but i want something a bit different as i havent played a melee damage class much).

1st off.... lawl ret.

Q1 Yes, players are humanoids
Q2 Yes, but its a good talent when you're leveling, gets you back to quest giver faster
Q3 lawl ret in raids in BC, any guild that takes ret to a raid obviously isn't far beyond kara, and won't be getting much further either. Sorry, blizzard screwed over off-specs when they reduced raid size. As for how much damage reduction, I can't tell you, I stopped being ret at 58.

Vengeance creates extra damage, which therefore creates extra threat. Hence probably the biggest flaw in ret, once you get aggro you have no way to shed it unless you stand there doing nothing seeing any other dps class fly past you on the damage charts.

Now as I said, I haven't been ret in forever, but almost every ret build I have ever seen has gone down the holy tree for survivability instead of going down the protection tree. Besides, you will be wanting wisdom or might on yourself, so getting kings would be a colossal waste of talent points.

Hey Sandmaster,

Dilbrt pretty much covered it. I can only further emphasize the fact that come lvl 70 Retribution is perhaps the worst build, out of all builds in all classes in World of Warcraft.

Particularly for raiding. In fact with the announced changes in the upcoming patch (2.3) the hopes of Ret being a viable raiding build have been completely thrown out the window.

Q1 -alreay answered
Q2 - a lot of people disagree but don't waste points on speed, spend the gold and get enchants or the time and get the pvp boots...the points are too valuable to waste
Q3 - Bosses (and I think other elites) are immune to this talent making it worthless. I think this may have some use in pvp but I would focus on burst damage instead

I1 & I2 - I like your ideas but from what I have heard Blizz isn't concerned with lowering ret threat.

As for your build I would swap Vindication for Crusade.

Rets go into the Prot tree to get Precision (a must have for ret), some get kings cause for 3 more points, why not. I think of it as a buff for others :)

Personally I would go into the Prot tree just to Precision but would pass on Kings and spend the points on Divine Strength or Intellect.

Thanks for the input :)

Are you sure about crusade as i've heard the similar hunter talent "himanoid slaying" doesn't affect PvP targets, i could be wrong here.

I understand that it is a poor build. But the burst damage potential seems pretty decent to me which can be a powerful tool in PvP which will be my main activity with this character it seems. Hey maybe i'll randomly go instances and see how i do *Dreams of a day of out damaging a warlock*

Currently i have mining (300) and jewelcrafting (265), but was considering swapping JC'n for engineering as the epic head would be very useful for gearing up and the "toys" help out for PvP and i can get gems from others in guild for free. Would this be a good move?

Many thanks

Both the paladin and hunter talents that increase damage to humanoids increase the damage in PvP.

Yes, switching out of Jewelcrafting would be a good thing. It offers nothing useful in pvp.
