Enhancement PvP BuildFollow

#1 Oct 06 2007 at 3:59 PM Rating: Decent
Hey I got this build out of nowhere

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=hVchV0hZxV00EgsV0Vo

The main reasons for this build is:

* Two Hand Weapon
* Doing some main Lightning distance damage
* Throwing out Fire Totems for some DoT damage

Main question is if Stormstrike (which I have'nt taken into this build) is best for Dual Wield only, or if it's a good 2H damage maker (damage to mana ratio wise)
and since Shamans have a lack of melee abilities and is depending on auto-attack and windfury proc.

OK, first of all, you didn't even take the 2h wep talent. So with your proposed build, you could only use a staff, or a 1h/shield combo...which makes no sense whatsoever for an enhance pvp build.

Secondly, Elemental Warding is next to useless. Shamans are not tanks, we can do quick burst damage; usually in pvp enhance shammies just need to do as much damage in as little time as possible. 10% less damage from other shamans and mages will not help us against any other classes...maybe the occasional boomkin, but honestly, don't take Elemental Warding.

Stormstrike is essential. Take it, no matter what, if you're going enhancement. That's an extra attack every 10 seconds, which means your opener could include a) normal hit b) Stormstrike hit c) WF proc...that's like 3 hits in one, and if the Windfury crits...holy hell you just one shot that mage!!!

I'm too lazy to finish this analyzation, but others will pick up where I dropped up, and improve on what I said, I'm sure.

Sorry but no.

First of all for all the reasons GWynand listed but you have also taken a couple of other useless talents, in particular Elemental Devastation.

ED is a trick talent, it looks good but it's just not. In order for it to proc even close to regularly you need a lot of spell crit, to get that you will be sacrificing melee stats.

Toughness and Anticipation are also kinda useless IMO, as a Shaman you are never going to have that much survivability and taking those talents is just fooling yourself, use them for filler only if necessary. Imp Weapon Totems sucks for PvP too as you will already have your weapons buffed so will get no effect from it.

IMO you are best off choosing between Enhancement and Elemental and putting your remaining points in resto, ideally at least 21 for NS, that WILL give you some survivability.

Try something like this.

If you really want the Enh/Elem crossover you are going for what we call a suicide build. The idea being that you expect to go down but want to take as many of them with you as you can. It's all about optimising your burst potential. The gearing is for melee but we are squeezing as much out of your shocks as possible.

Something like this.

Leaves a lose point, put it wherever you like.

All I can say is "ditto" to Sunsoarer :)

On a side note;

I'm very curious to see what specs are going to look like when patch 2.3 comes out. I have a feeling, suicide builds might become more viable/effective due to shocks becoming more mana efficient, thus sustaining dps longer, and the -30% dmg buff from SR.

I've been kinda itching to change things up, we'll see what happens in 2.3...

Kizzahunt, you totally missed the point, the OP was asking for a PvP build.

First off you missed 2 handers and put in dual wield, DW is awesome for PvE (in fact your entire build looks more like a PvE build to me but you still missed some essentials and took some useless stuff) but 2 handers are and always have been superior for PvP. Even if you want to take Dual Wield you should have put a point in 2 handers instead of putting that single point in Imp LS.

The "elemental stuff" you are "********" is necessary to get to NS which is a hugely powerful ability for PvP. Imp Ghost Wolf is also a PvP essential IMO as it is our only "get away" ability (a weak one but it's what we got).

You have created a kind of hybrid build but it is definitely more PvE than PvP, and at 70 there is no need to go hybrid like that. Money is easy to come by, have a PvE build and a PvP build and respec as needed.

IMO if he wants to pvp he should go elemental or even restoration, elemental is non-stop offense if you know what your doing and resto is just damn hard to kill

and do listen to the shaman wisdom that is sunsoarer

edit: for a couple of mispelled words
