So here is the pisser:

Last night I was in Kara with my shammy, we downed Kurator, it was a PUG sponsered by AM.

2 Items dropped, but they didnt link them in raid to let us know what they were.

I see "You have recieved Dragon Quake SHoulderguards", I thought sweet, if I go back to Resto on my shammy I'll have some nice healing shoulders.

Then they link the Shammy/ROgue/Whatever Tier4 gloves and say, "who needs em", everybody who needed em rolled, myself included. I won with an 88 but then I hear over vent "Well to make this fair since Blue got the shoulders we will give the gloves to the next highest roll"

DAMNIT, I didn't even ask for the dam shoulders, they just gave em to me! Then the one thing I needed I get told I can't roll on because they just gave another item to me? Thats sooo much ******* BS, I told them so, left group, and when I logged they were still looking for another ranged DPS for Kara :)

Was I wrong in being pissed? Or was I just going through Epic Envy?

I think your anger was justified as no one rolled for the shoulders and you got them handed to you, then a roll for something you actually needed was initiated, you were told to roll if you needed them-which you did- and then were told that your roll meant nothing.

As "fair" as that may have been, it was BS, they asked you to roll, you won the roll, end of discussion.

Needless to say I will probly not be helping them complete it today...

Joined a new guild, however it took us an hour due to random DC's just to get to the Arcane Patroller in Heroic Mech, right in front of the elevator -__-

I agree they should have handled the situation and rolls better. A whisper to you before just giving the item you wanted to the other person would have avoided the whole problem. However I do think your response was extreme, assuming this was the first time this sort of thing happened. I'd have sent an e-mail to the guild leader explaining things from my perspective and asking for common courtesy of discussing these details in party chat before summarily giving items away. If this was merely the latest in a string of bungled communications, then I would have left in that situation also.

I'm one for always taking the cool headed approach but I think this would have tweaked me sufficiently to do just as you did.

if you think gimping yourself specwise is uber, yeah your hunter is ;)

And i would probably have left the guild too, depends on how nice they have been before.
Although the first thing i would have done was leave the raid and ask what the hell it was about.

Sounds to me like a not-so-subtle sign that they'd like you to reroll Resto on your Shaman.

Not to rub it in, but the reverse happened to me when my guild first downed Curator. I didn't win the roll for the T4 token, but the people who beat me (both of them) decided to let me have them anyway as my gear sucked more than theirs :)

Think of it like this. the party thought enough of you to give you SOMETHING at all.. they had no clue the gloves would drop. had they not given you the shoulders.. and the gloves had not dropped.. you would be on here ******** about that.

WHAT!!!

Listen, they both drop off Curator, the ML knew what had dropped, he didnt tell the party, he just gave me the shoulder then made the call on the gloves.

Quote:
His thought process was more like this "Well this shammy is doing awsome and i really wanna get him at least one piece of gear tonight. and just to be on the safe side incase nothing else that he can use drops.. i had better give him these shoulders"

Yeah ok, whatever, you are making no ******* sence at all...

Whoa there Slammer... easy boy!

It's clear you don't agree with Caldone's leaving of the group over the incident. If that's the case just say so. No need for the flame or venom.

Caldone clearly was upset. I can't really blame him, and stuff done in the anger of the moment is rarely 'wise'.

People have VERY different approachs to things. The concept of honor has nearly been lost in almost all PUG's, Raid or otherwise. It's one of the primary reasons I stay away from PUG's and it costs me because I don't get as far along as I could if I advertised and did them. However, it saves me the frustration Caldone suffered.

It royally sucks to be 'given' something you don't need, and then with the same breath have something taken away from you that you did need because you were 'given' something else. Your argument that they at least made an attempt to 'placate' him seems valid on the surface but the logic gets screwy if you try to lay it out. Caldone is upset because he got victimized by the stupidity of the master looter. What would've made *ME* leave is that nobody else seems to have stuck up for me. Someone else should've said SOMETHING in my defense as I protested.

I have stayed with groups after having been ninja'd, sworn at, called all kinds of names (earned sometimes, but rarely) and even tried short manning stuff with groups that caused skilled people to leave. That is because MY personal sense of honor says when I agree to a group I stick with it. I don't ask, nor 'enforce' that honor on anyone else.

Caldone was ripped off, and by the time people hit 70, that's uncalled for and they should know better. He had every right to get angry and it was his call to leave. I wouldn't fault him for it. I probably might have made an exception to my rule in this case as I was never going to get anything more out of the instance save experience and some gold. You tend to be treated poorly if you protest a decision.

Now, you can stipulate what you'd have done in that situation, Slammer, but really, in this situation, a personal attack on him is unwarranted in my opinion. It solves nothing and since he's a fixture here and you're looking at under 60 posts, you might want to consider taking a more diplomatic approach to interraction here on the forums. That's just my 2 cents (worthless) advice, and it's up to you to do what you will with it.

Roll on all...

The gloves could have been used by many folks in the group.....

but the shoulders probably could have only been used by yourself...

So instead of giving you the gloves the ml decided to give you the shoulders. Its not a bad decision at all.

Ok, Lemme explain this slow...

I went in on a DPS shammy.

The Healing shoulders were not neaded, but they gave them to me becuase I am the only one who could use them, but I did not need them as a DPS shammy.

They should have linked both items.

The Gloves I needed, and won the roll for, but since they gave the shoulders to me without asking, I got jipped.

Quote:
would you have said no to the shoulders anyway? you said you may use them..

No, the Hallowed Shoulders are better. Which is what I have for healing gear.

Quote:
But dude.. you cannot justify your ragequit with just that.

You walked away with a sweet epic item. anyone who does that should NEVER be rage quitting on a run.

I left the group because I got jipped of all fairness.

THEY DIDN'T EVEN GIVE BE A CHOICE BRO!! I am not an f-in healer anymore, I am DPS, how are healing shoulders going to benifit me?

Quote:
so you got pissed cause the lil baby did not get the toy he wanted. then he ragequit with his shiney new epic..

Yeah, **** you, I would like to see what you would have done.

I think the whole basis of Slammerofkooter's argument is that you actually wanted and would eventually be using those shoulders. As you stated in your post, you didn't say "mind if I have those shoulders for my healing set?" They were given to you. Had you asked for the shoulders and then rolled on the gloves, that makes Slammer's argument solid. I could see the other people in the raids point of view, but I'm not sure they knew that you didn't even show an intrest in the aquisition of the shoulders.

Quote:
Was I wrong in being pissed? Or was I just going through Epic Envy?

This depends if there was another healer there (or GOD forbid, a huntard) who could of used those. If not, the item is pretty much useless to all but you, even then you were a D.P.S shaman so they weren't great use to you, and really should be taken out of the equation. The leader was probably thinking "Who would this item be the least useless with..." You were picked. Had you been tossing around the idea of going Resto and being a healer, and everyone knew and that was the reason the shoulders were given to you, then what they did would be fine.

If there was a person who could have used the shoulders, I would have told the raid that the shoulders were given to me, I didn't ask for them, nor did I show intrest. Since I have not seen more info on that subject, I'm going to assume you havn't been telling all your friends/guildmates your respeccing resto and been saying "I will respec on Tuesday the..." I would say your roll was a fair call.

The basics of my post? The leader had good intentions but should have told you that he was giving them to you, he should also have asked if you wanted them or not as well as announcing the drops to the group. As for your leaving the group, you left because you got angry over being denied a roll becasue you were given something you didn't want. You should have left with a clear conscience.
#19 Oct 06 2007 at 11:30 PM Rating: Decent
Ask if anyone needs an item, if not, you diss it. You don't just go around throwing items at people when it might turn out they don't even want them. And Slammer, for fUck's sake start formatting your posts differently. A linebreak between every damn sentence?
#20REDACTED, Posted: Oct 06 2007 at 11:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I would have said "thank you this will be awsome if i ever spec for healing."

I completely agree with you that the master looter should have said. "alright here is what dropped. who can use what?"

It was @#%^ed up to not do that. and i cannot assume to know what he was thinking.

I would assume that he saw healing mail and said.. hmmm shamen gear... and we have a shamen.. sweet...

then when you rolled on the gloves he was like.. whoaa dude i just gave you some sweet epic shoulders..

I highly doubt he knew that you had better healing shoulders. and i somehow dont think that you warned them ahead of time that you are not interested in healing gear.
And how exactly was this caldone's fault?
The raidleader should have posted in raidchat what dropped.
Then people can roll need on the first item, if no one wants it people can greed (good for healing set/dps set/high agi SV set/whatever) if no one wants it it is disenchanted.
Then the same for the second item.

This raidleader skipped the first item and just blindly gave it to someone, and wether or not it might be useful is pretty much out of the question and its equal to giving a priest a piece of tanking plate.
When an item dropped caldone actually wanted, he couldnt get it because he already got a useless item.

Caldone got ~10g instead of a much needed/wanted upgrade.

Your insane if you think everyone should say what they are after before you start the damn raid so the raidleader can distribute things without rolling or something like that.

Yeh I think Caldone got screwed.

I kinda wish it were possible to refuse an item if the ML wanted to give it to you - like a window that pops up and says "The Master Looter wants to give you this item, do you accept , yes or no." Actually thats one on a loooong list of complaints I have about the loot system in general in WoW but I digress. No one should be forced to take and item they don't want then when winning a roll on something they do want be refused the item because they recieved the first unwanted item. Crappy. I know I'd be pissed - I wouldn't quit the group but the master looter would get an earful.

That would be very nice.

So, you'll act like a bratty ***** throwing a tantrum here but you'll lick the chocolate starfish of every guild leader and figure of authority in the game? You need to grow some balls in WoW and grow some diplomacy and respect here.

Slammerofkooter wrote:

That's funny, cause you've assumed to know the thoughts behind that person's actions numerous times in your previous posts. Suddenly had a moment of clarity, did you?

Slammerofkooter wrote:

SHAMAN. Shaman. And you also said "rouge" in an earlier post. How many times have you seen the class names by now?

Slammerofkooter wrote:
Yes they should see that you are dps and assume that is all you want. but some people see a class and gear of that class and say. ITS YOURS.

Slammerofkooter wrote:
Yes you did in essence get cheated a very small ammount. and yes they should have realized you wanted to improve your dps gear.

You keep agreeing that the decisions they made were wrong. So shut up already. They're shonky bastards and you're a knob that just doesn't make sense. Maybe you should join their guild. I heard their GM loves people who kiss ***.
