Karazhan Minimum RequirementsFollow

Good morning all. I was wondering if anyone had minimum attribute requirements set for rogues just starting Karazhan? I know that numbers will vary per spec (Combat Daggers, Combat Swords, Mutilate, etc). Basically, we are wanting rogues to meet a minimum requirement in order to attempt to raid Kara. So many rogues think that once they have the Kara key then they are ready for Kara. This can be the case if you have mixed in gear from Heroics and good quested items. However, I see far too many rogues in quested greens that haven't stepped foot in a heroic, yet thinking they are kara material due to having the key. So these minimum requirements would be used to prevent this from happening. I was thinking along the lines of:

Combat Swords - 7K HP, 1300 AP, 150 Hit, 20% Crit

Combat Daggers - 7K HP, 1200 AP, 150 Hit, 23% Crit

Mutilate - Would need some suggestions here.

These numbers seem fairly low to me due to the fact that I ran numerous heroics and had well over these requirements before I tried Kara. So please, any advice on what numbers would sound good would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, I wouldn't put a hard line on stats, because some people will gear themselves differently and end up with one stat much lower than the others. I had a friend who had 2.1k AP and 26% crit, but was only had about 5% hit.

I'd just look at the armory profile, make sure they have a decent weapon, have enough hit to not miss specials, and have enough AP/Crit to not hit like a wet noodle. When I started Kara, I had 1600 or so AP and low 20s crit, but extremely low hit. I was also wearing most of the best pre-raid gear you could get.

I myself am combat swords speced and would have to agree with what you have put forth. I barely meet these requirements, but have been to kara several times now. But in all honesty, it is not all about stats and gear. Personally I have terrible luck with drops in instances. If you look at my gear you will see that it sucks; however, this is not from not trying. I have run Sethekk halls to the point that i can visualize every pull and which mobs are where, yet i still have yet to get the Assassination shoulders. I have done so with Mech for the chest piece and SLabs for the leggings as well, and yet I have had no such luck. Therefore I say, that while these are good guidelines, do not let it hinder you in attempting a Kara run so long as your group is aware and accepting of inferior stats/gear.

I do agree to an extent to what both of you all are saying. Every rogue levels different and gear/stats will fluctuate greatly from one rogue to the next. Also, lackluster gear doesn't mean that the rogue is horrible due to some unlucky drop rates you can get on instance items. However, setting forth some numbers for a rogue to try to achieve will better will help I think. Talent spec will definately be taken into account. Also, if you are way over the AP and Hit requirement but are lacking in the crit, of course an exception will be made.

I do agree with what you said and simply wished to add a small qualifying statement so that other rogues with Kara prospectives would not try overly long for gear, ect that doesn't seem to drop for them and that even with stats lower that those posted it is still possible to do Kara...just don't expect to be topping the dmg charts is all.

I can't comment on the other builds but for combat swords I recently started Kara with 7400ish hp, 1290ish AP, 21.75ish crit, and 225 hit. The kicker is I am in all blue gear except for my Cobrascale Hood and two greens! You shouldn't be wasting time running the same instances 400 times for a single blue or purple drop, its a waste of time. About HALF the blue items I am wearing are LW crafted and the mats are fairly easy to grind or even better, buy, and require no grouping. Get the Fel Leather set (which happen to be some of the best DPS blue gear!) and throw some cheap enchants on them. You should grab some other quested blue gear and throw some cheap enchants on those as well. Viola, Kara ready....

Check my armory link if you still doubt me. 2nd on the DPS meters for the bosses I ran, only beat by 5-6 thousand by an almost fully purple rogue. I was 19% he was 20% and I forgot to put deadly on my main hand, which he did. If you check out the charts at Shadow Panther (dont know address off hand, google it) you will see that the purple drops in Kara aren't too far off from some of the crafted and easily quested blues.

Also, for a main haind get Vindicator's Brand from Aldors. Only took me 4-5 days to get it.

your base stats are good, its around what we always look for in my guild.
we generalized it though, 1500ap 8k hp 22% crit. 160+hit.. thats for Kara.

1500 is a bit harsh for pre-kara, 1350 is the bare minimum , combat spec only when you dont have the gear for mutiraid. I was 1480 my first time in kara. I'm never topped on meters except when i get lazy and dont watch every cd to make sure i'm at ful dps, or the casters just decide to throw caution to the aggro winds and die every other pull.

based on the items for max dps armor, its very easy to get 1500ap 8k hp, and 22% crit pre-kara.

also virtu is there any reason you are offhanding ced's carver over getting Latro's sword from BM?

If you are at 1480ap and never getting topped in Kara, you more than likely don't have enough DPS in the group to take down curator until the 5th evo. Im at 1600ap right now and the group I run Kara with keep on par with me, its a solid dps group. We dont stop in Kara any more. We can start a fresh start and get to prince in a few hours. Not to flex my epeen cause that not what I inteded. Just more saying don't be lazy its not hard to gear up for Kara at all.
