hi there..
as you can see from my sig(which is not updated) i like alts.. i have literally every type of class as an alt.. except druid.. so now its time to play that too.
Now my question is this...i have this weapondBirchwood Maul of the Monkey.. which has decent dmg and dps... for it's lvl...but when i change to bear (I'm lvl 11 btw ) my dps remains roughly the same but my dmg range drops from 26-40 to something lower.. so when i saw that I remembered that i read somewhere that for a drood
Quote:
having a 2 dps weapon with stats is better than having a 100 dps weapon with crusader

i know that he was referring to the crusader enchant (chance on hit) but was he refering to white damage as well?..
I am asking this because i was thinking to get Staff of the Sun since it is a great dps weapon as a staff.. and later on Crescent staff..
can anyone enlighten me a bit and explain how my weapon damage will afect my white and dmg in bear/cat/whatever form?..
or at least post a link :))

Assuming you're in bear or cat form when it gets to hand-to-hand combat, your weapon damage is meaningless. It doesn't apply in bear/kitty, so the only time it even comes into play is when you shift out of form and happen to get a whack in with it. All that matters about your weapon is the +stats.

Same with your weapon skill. So if you find a dagger with +a billion STR, STA, and AGI, but it only does 2 DPS and your dagger skill is only 3, you still want that dagger.

so what you are saying is that the exalted weapon from cenaion.. (the mace) is only good for its stats and the green text? (^_^)

Precisely.

The armor will be increased in Bear form. The Stamina will provide lots of health and indeed the "green text" effects like Defense and Attack Power will apply.

The 80 something DPS from the weapon itself is of no use to a tanking Druid.

Just want to point out that this is only true for bear and cat form. In Moonkin or Tree you are actually swinging your weapon.

In bear and cat your feral combat skill is automatically maxed per level and you have a static weapon speed and damage with your claws. The only thing left that makes a difference is attack power and crit rate, which are most effectively boosted with strength and agility. Focus on of the Tiger if you are comfortable with your health pool. Get gear of the Bear or Monkey otherwise, especially if you are on a pvp server.
