Does anyone else have a kinda hard time leveling up their def skill? I mean...were casters right? and I don't know if were supposed to even care about that or about the weapon skill (by this I exclude wands). I try to keep my def and weap skill up but 1st it takes time...(on the contrary with wands skill which levels up every hit or so) and 2nd I risk myself too much.
Anyone have a better method?

I seem to keep my def skill almost maxed by drain-tanking the last 1/4 of some mobs. Of course, I am Afflic spec'd and drain-tanking is quite easy. Staff skill doesn't matter worth a flip, don't worry at all about weapon skills.
The more mobs you fight, the more chances for extra +def skill, but it is not required for a lock to have super-high defense, imo. Least til end-game.

I personally have never bothered to level up defense skill. Wand skill is almost a must, and weapon skill isn't that hard to level up (at least, not hard using the Banish trick), but defense means letting something thrash me. Honestly, if you're not drain-tanking, nothing will be getting near you if you're doing it right. If you really want to get defense skill up, try drain-tanking for a while.
