My Armory link is in my sig. I'm teamed up with a shadow priest, and you'll quickly see that we're both PvE orientated. We're mostly in instance blues with a few purples between us, and our Arena rating isn't going to get us Gladiator gear any time soon. I'm working towards getting some BG gear (I'm going to buy the gloves tomorrow), but again, that's going to take time, so a change in strategy is our best bet for the moment.

As far as DPS/Healer teams, we do fine. CC the DPS, burn down the healer. Easy as pie.

It's the DPS/DPS teams that we have trouble with, especially when one of those DPS is a mage. The 3-minute mages mess us up something fierce. Enhancement shaman are also a problem, and we ran up against a rogue/rogue team (both Mutilate) that burned my partner down so quick, I could barely get any damage in before it was 2 on 1.

Any advice?

Shadow Priest seems to have difficulty with that, me and my SP friend could only get to 1700 before we just couldn't advance any farther.

What I noticed though (that worked) is with the dual DPS teams, you should target the softest caster first. Get off a CS, at the end of the CS have your priest silence whilst you apply EA and get more CP's for a KS, blind/fear the other dps'r if he's woken up, then toss up the KS and just burn burn burn.

In other words, using your natural ~10 seconds of stunlock is great, but adding the Shadow priest silence to that is even greater.

Problem with the rogue/sp setup is it's real gear dependent; you both have to be able to take a sh*t load of damage for it to work. PvE gear won't cut it.

and don't forget your pvp trinkets--they are probably going to be the best chance of survival that you guys have. they are both going to try and kill your priest as soon as possible--

you initiate combat:

you are going to sap one of them if you can, if you can't you will probably cs him, do a 2pt finisher and blind the other guy and switch back to your original target. if they trinket out of your cc's then they are both going to try and kill your priest asap. there's not much that you can do to prevent this. you can shiv crippling poison onto them and try and kite them around (hoping that they do not cloak of shadows it off in the hopes they can prevent some of your SP's debuffs). kiting them around might be a possibility especially if your SP can get a fear off. this will be short lived, though, as i would probably get frustrated and remove your poison and vanish. you could try and repeat your kiting strategy when he reemerges, perhaps having to use one of your trinkets in order to break his ks-don't bother on cs, i'm sure you know why.

they initiate combat:

your priest is going to be instantly massed. because he is not stealthed...one of them probably won't even hold back to take care of the stealthed teammate (you), which is probably safer than both going all out on the priest. if this happens then you need to beat the rogue before your healer goes down or odds are you are done, because that rogue will most likely consume all of your health so you don't have any to kill the remaining rogue. if they both go all out on the priest then he is going to have to trinket and fear. the game then becomes sort of a coin flip imo. they might burn vanish leaving you a little in the + if you didn't come out of stealth but your healer will have wasted mana topping off again.

i'm sorry if this post isn't coherent. also, i'm not highly rated, this is just my understanding of how the fight would probably go--at least in my bracket anyway.

You need gear to make double dps work well.

If you have no survivability then you will run into problems.

Your armory link shows that you have 7200 health and 4 resiliance. That's a BIG problem. Your wearing PVE gear in Arena, which just won't do. Spend the majority of your time online working on acquiring some battlegrounds gear, while you save up points for Arena gear.

In my PVP blues (Grand Marshal set) along with a few PVP epics, I have almost 10K health and around 225 resiliance. There's a big difference between PVE blues and PVP blues. As the saying goes, a dead rogue does no dps.

It was late so my post wasn't to informative.

Slyyth covered it well though.

You are not going to go anywhere with 7600 health. I could literally 4 SS shot you within 5-8 seconds.

If you are adamant about Arena and truly want to experience it, start the AV honor game. Get at least the non-set pieces. That should put you close to 8-9k health, and 200~ resil. You will notice a drastic improvement.

You want to aim for 10k health as a benchmark. Your crit will be around 23-25% or so when you hit it, and your AP anywhere from 1100-1200.

You will start hitting ideal numbers at around 10.5k health, 1350AP, and 27-30% crit.

Like I said though, double dps is going to be really hard. You have no survivability through either a healer, or gear, so you might want to consider trying a healer partner.

I'm not very serious about Arena, but it is something fun that I like to do to break up the monotony of the rep grind, gold grind, and all those other PvE grinds that we face at level 70.

Also, I doubt I'll get a new partner. The SP I'm paired with is a really nice guy, and we have fun together. It's more about goofing around (and possibly getting some nice epic weapons) than it is about seriously competing. Still, even though we're only casual Arena combatants, it's always more fun to win.

I've already started to grind honor for a BG gear set, and I'm getting the gloves as soon as I get home today. As far as socketing goes, I plan to do as much +stam as possible, but what about red sockets? Should I still put +AP in those?

12stam all blues.

4crit 6stam yellows.

8ap 6stam reds.

Once you hit 10k, regem blues for 8ap 6stam, 16ap reds, and 8crit yellows while still maintaining 10k.

You can re-gem? I thought gems were locked into gear permanently?

Nope. It does destroy the old gem however. Similar to enchants.

zOMGWTFHAX!

That's freaking awesome, especially since I've been meaning to replace the meta gem in my helm.

At low levels of arena, HP is waaay more important than reslience.

When you get your first set bonus of 35 resilience, then you can start socketing resilience, since you should have ~100+ by then.

You will get your resilience from the gear. No need to waste sockets on it.

I'm at like 356 now with 3 peices S2 (had 389 until I broke the GM set bonus).

Two more peices of S2 would put me just over 400.

As a rogue Resil is nice, but you definetely don't need to cap it.

There is a new Yellow(iirc) that is 4resil 6stam. I actually have 2 of these in my gear right now (Neck and Chest I think).

Those aren't bad. Bit of resil and HP at the loss of some crit.

Green, actually. So they count towards both blue and yellow on the socket bonuses and meta gem requirements.

quick reminder in case some do not know:

- you can always resocket (as mentioned above)
- you can put any color gem into any color slot. if you DO happen to use the suggest color arrangement then you gain the socket bonus stated on that piece, else.. the sockets still work, you just dont get the socket bonus.

=)

I recently just re-socketed about 90% of my gems. After getting my S2 shoulders I was sitting at 10.7k unbuffed, but my AP was stupid low. I'm back down to just over 10k now with much higher AP/Crit and I notice a big difference.

*edit* main reason I had to put all new gems in was due to my meta also. I switched from the stamina/stun resist to the crit/snare/root resist. Another reason muti has been in the back of my mind, great meshing with fleet footed and the upcomming 15% run speed change in 2.3

You learn something new every day. Unless it's today, in which case you learned two somethings new!

im gonna chime in here and ask some advice as well.

Until lately ive only been doing arena on my rogue to get gear for PvE. Meaning +hit and more +hit gems.

Is it worth losing all that hit for PvP? I'd love to resocket and get some more stamina and AP.

I mean, thats looking at 48sta for me right now, putting me at about 10.2k hp unbuffed, plus a **** ton more next patch when i get merc tunic, BG cape and merc thrown wep... Im seeing 11k easily on the horizon.

Yea I stray away from numbers.

I don't even remember how much hit you need for raiding, let alone how the attack tables etc work.
