Outlands specFollow

#1 Oct 02 2007 at 11:08 PM Rating: Decent

First off i'm sorry if there are similar topics on these forums, i have been looking for a while and there wasn't really anything that awnsered my question.

So my prot pala hit 58 last night, grinding buzzards in hellfire, the xp was good (35kxp/hour) and the first few outlands drops made it a little less boring. My question is, what should i spec to level in outlands? My first thoughts were ret. because i have read that aoe grinding in outlands isn't really up to it agaisnt the quests.

I also enjoy instances (tanking and healing)and have been to pretty much all of the 5-mans in azeroth on the way to outlands. With prot and holy no good for solo leveling (or are they?) and ret not really wanted in 5-mans i am kind of stuck.

P.S. would it be best to g o ret. and offspec heal in instances?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I was in the exact same shoes as you. Hell I even made a similar post. I changed my spec a little, but I am still Prot. Of course, Im like 68 now.

I had a Holy/Prot build going into outlands. I respect to Prot/Ret and found a wicked 2 hander. I spec so that I could get SoC and conviction. Questing will be kinda slow, but it is much faster with a 2 hander and SoC.

The further you level, the harder it becomes to heal without bring deep holy. My advice is to spec whatever you want to do in 5 mans. Than work from there.

Honestly i love being prot in outlands. I have soloed 3 man group quests with no problem. I dont see how i could do it without the prot abilities. There aren't as many aoe grinding spots but there are still a fair amount. Something to be said about soloing a 63 elite with 2 63 non elite adds, then the next 63 elite that spawns after killing the first, then getting 2 more adds on top of that as a 62. Prot pally ftw!

I leveled ret through outlands and it went pretty well. Never grinded, only quested.

Alot of people on these boards swear by prot, but, meh. If you want to grind, you can AoE grind on plenty of things as prot and you will level pretty quick. If you want to quest and not grind then i would recommend ret and level like a warrior.

my 2c.
