As an extra bonus, if you're in Netherstorm and find yourself ermm.. under excessive beating, run to an island edge, jump off, fall til you're out of combat > flightform, flap back up and exact cold, cruel revenge.

hehe. 8 gold vs 8000 gold to fly(normal speed no less).

druids have it good.

the spell costs 8g, but you'll need 225 riding skill to get it. It's 800g for normal flying :)

Last one, do you just buy flying mounts once you have the coin or do you have to have some sort of rep?

There's no quest involved for the standard flightform, nor rep level.

Epic flightform requires 300 riding (5k gold) BEFORE you can aquire the quest, and you need revered rep with Lower City to enter heroic Sethekk to complete the quest.

Normal flying mounts just require coinage (and normal epics too)

You only need 8 gold to get skill, and you learn 225 riding when you pay for skill. So it just costs 8 gold for flight form. Go to your trainer pay him and hearth back to outlands switch to FF and you are flying my friend!!! Woot.

The only flying mounts you need rep for are the Netherdrakes. All normal flying mounts just require monehz.

To be honest I never buy the mounts, I just don't care. I have an epic gryphon because I thought it was a good idea to pay 200g to be able to fly at top speed while I was waiting to complete my epic flight form quests (it took a while to get a group going to heroic sethekk at the time). But I haven't bought the other ones. I'm exalted with skyguards and I didn't even bother buying a nether ray.

Gliding is cool, wish the gryphon and netherdrakes could also glide, would make it a lot cooler. For the non-druidic folk.

Ya know how sometimes when you log off you get the 20 second timer, even on PvE realms? (seems random, anybody know the logic?)

It takes 20 seconds to log out if you are not in an area where you become rested, such as an inn or a major city.

It's settled. My other characters can go to hell and stay there. They might be more wanted, more liked and more powerful, but none of them have the ability to run off a cliff, change into a bird and glide away on the wind.

Druids... I'm back.

I just hit 64 - 4 more levels~!

I'm also finding that questing and grinding is easier. I think when I first went to Outlands at 58 I was always on High Yellows and Oranges - hard fights for a non-geared druid. I've got a few blues now and some good greens - still poorly geared, but good enough to grind.

You need Epic land mount skill to get the 68 flying spell, right?

I'm about to hit 65 and these past levels have been rough on me - leveling slow, I need to run more instances. I can't wait to hit 68 and get flight form - something to work towards and refresh my interest in my druid. Just ~2 million experience to go... ugh.

Yep, but lets face it, very few people should be at 68 and not be able to afford epic ground training.

I am sure a lot of my fellow druids are aware of this ...

But for those who aren't:

Type(or create a Macro)

/mountspecial

in Flightform you will do a loop-the-loop. It was "nerfed" in the last patch so it only works when stationary.

Just a little love from Blizz ;)

Cheers

p.s. Still working on Epic Flight Form....Can't wait!

A bit off topic, but have anyone tried to dismount high up, shift to bear and then feral charge some poor smuck? Would it work to cancel out falling damage?

Yes. Affectionately known as the RAWRBOMB. Just don't wait too long or it's the RAWRSPLAT instead.

OMG I'M SO GUNNA BOMB SOME POOR SOD TONIGHT!!!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It should be noted that the stormhammer that alliance guards will throw at you if you fly too close to their base will still knock you out of flight form. ¬_¬

Yes, and all those alliance buggers love to do that ****, I died from falling damage in blades edge from that the b@st@rds. Also fling around is a great way of wasting your rez sickness time. :)

Funnest moment I had was when a pally was auto following me... I didn't realize this at the time and being lvl 68 ran straight over the gorge around Hala. Pop of flight form and away I go... The plate wearing pally however made a nice crater on the floor!

I made another discovery: Don't do this over "flight only" areas like Ogri'la. There are dragons flying around that can still eat you. ¬_¬

Except that we uber-chars.. i mean druids get cheap riding skill, is it usefull to actually buy a 'real' flying mount?
I thought that, once ur well geared and rich enough, the epic quest is more a matter of time spend then chance?

So, anyone actually buying the 200g mounts or not?
#47 Oct 16 2007 at 8:35 AM Rating: Decent
I didn't pay for any flying mount. Flight form was fine and when you hit exalted with Netherwing, you get a free Nether Drake anyway (epic flying mount).

My only wish is that we could fly along the ground in the old world. Then we wouldn't need to carry our normal mount arond with us for when we go to Kara etc.

!

Thanks for that info. Was wondering how I was going to (eventually) get Ogri'la quests done w/o an actual mount to do the bombing runs.

Don't worry about that, Nor...you can do all the "bombing" activities that require flying, like the Ogri'la bombing runs and taking out Halaa guards, in flight form.

<irrelevant crap>
In fact, I noticed that the quest text for bombing run is customized just for us. He says "So you can turn into a crow and fly around, have you ever attacked stuff while you're flying?"

That's in contrast to some Arrakoa-related quest where the questgiver says "unless you've got some feathers I can't see, you'll need to collect some of their feathers, too..." I found that especially funny because I was in flight form at the time. : )

Just got flight form and I'm loving it. Spent the past half an hour jumping off of Aldor Rise.
