Flight Form, the greatest 8 gold spent.Follow

Hit 68 last night and I gotta say I spent the next 4 hours flying around. It is the most senseless fun I've had in a long time. I mean c'mon, flying as high as you can then shifting, free falling, and shifting back 2 feet above the ground is so fun. I also tried refreshing my instant buffs on the way down and popped a rejuv before stopping a few feet above ground. Ahhh, I can't wait to get back on and just fly. Then I realized you can pick hebs in FFM! ($$$) My druid career just got a helluva lot more fun. Oh, and its also cool to free fall, shift to bird, then shift out and into cat, steath and land right behind an ally, pounce etc etc etc. Anybody else feel the same way about the coolest skill in game (imo)?

I believe you can 'erb in flightform, but you have to be as low to the ground as possible (i.e., perching if you type /sit)

BTW, use your flightform for a ton of free 'discovery' xp while it's still available - just get up high and autorun/quarter over a map with undiscovered areas while grabbing a drink/bio/homework, etc.

I completely uncovered Netherstorm in about 20 min this way, after dinging 68 in BEM, then did various 'flight only' areas like Skettis whenever I was nearby.

Rate up for you Tanq, I will do that today. And yes you can herby in FFM, just get as low as possible. At first I got the "you are flying" message but then I hit "x" a couple of times and it dropped me right into position. It actually looks really cool watching the bird gather with his claws. Great skill, gonna take a whopper of a skill to knock this off the top of my list of favs.

Congrats, I felt the same way, and I too flew around for a silly amount of time when I first got flight form. Couldn't wipe the crap eating grin off my face for an hour, lol.

I was questing in Nagrand at the time which is fantastic for first time flying with the deep canyons, the floating islands, and the ability to quickly fly between the launch stations for Halaa attacks/defenses.

I think flying and stealth are the two biggest game-changing conveniences around. The fact that we get both, and flight at 68 for next to nothing, is borderline unfair but that's fine with me. : )

Point-and-click-and-afk travel speeds up exploration and questing so much it's not even funny. Instant cast rocks the house too, as you can rez in the middle of a nasty situation, pop to bird, slam on the space bar and up up up an awaaaaay.

I'm always shocked when I meet non-druid 70s that don't have flying mounts and don't seem to prioritize getting it. I almost pity the poor groundpounders.

Yep, I spent an unholy amount of time winging around having fun when I first got FF. Bear-bombing for the first time actually made me giggle.

Of course, once you get your epic flight form it starts the love affair all over again! Makes it very, very hard to play another character. Poor mount cursed peons...

I've never seen the druid flight form so if someone could either post their druid soaring the skies or gimme a link that would be awesome.

Are the flight forms from night elf and tauren different?

2. Yes. This is the tauren one. Night Elf is more black, you can probably just change the end to "druidalliance.jpg" to get the NE one.

EDIT: Confirmed. You can just change the end to druidallaince.jpg.

Yeah sure, post pics of the Epic/Swift flight form to make those of us with regular 'ol flight form jealous. Nice. Just kidding, but I do want to clarify that the first shots posted are of the epic level flight form.

Some of us are stuck with:

By the way, a little pet peeve about the speed of regular flight form and mouts...if you hear people say regular flight isn't all that good as I have because it's not as fast (60% boost) as epic mount (100% boost) don't pay any attention. You go SO much faster when you can travel literally "as the crow flies" without traversing roads and avoiding or fighting mobs.

Sorry about that.
And don't think of it as stuck, but that you are getting a quick fix before the goods ones :D.

lol, I know the feeling. In fact I wanted this so much that on hearing about it back before TBC was even out I dropped my lock (who I'd played for over a year) and stomped through leveling a druid. Just to hit 60 on the day TBC landed on the door mat.

I also spent ages just flying around seeing stuff. Then spent the next gods only know amount of time in SL grinding rep so I was ready for Epic :)

I bought a white flying mount too, just for looks. Theres nothing better than dropping out of parrot form and falling - then getting lag and spattering over Nagrand. Oh good times. :-D.

Flight form is one of the coolest things I got in this game. The coolest was the epic flight form ;-)

Seriously, if you think the flight form is fun, just wait to see the epic one. It's so nice. I partcularly love the instant cast as well as the gliding effect. And players on a flying mount dismount when hit - no such thing with the flight form. I also love the fact that it's small so that you can actually see the landscape, compared to a netherwing mount which takes 2/3rd of the screen - completely useless.

Of course I can't count how many times I've jumped from the bridge leading to Kara back entrance, only to realise that my flight form doesn't quite work in Azeroth :(

It should be noted that the stormhammer that alliance guards will throw at you if you fly too close to their base will still knock you out of flight form. ¬_¬

A bit off topic, but have anyone tried to dismount high up, shift to bear and then feral charge some poor smuck? Would it work to cancel out falling damage?

Yes. Affectionately known as the RAWRBOMB. Just don't wait too long or it's the RAWRSPLAT instead.

I've actually experienced epic flight form on the public test realm. :)

Just learned about that a few weeks ago...for any other noobs that don't know what it is it's a seperate server where they test the next patch. The cool part is you can either copy your own toon there or pick from templates they make available...which start at level 70 and have ALL the training and tricks built into them, as well as 4 30-something slot bags with every piece of top-level epic gear and gems and stuff. It's great for playing around with another spec or getting yourself a sneak preview of what it's like to fly at 280-friggin-percent speed. : )

Experienced a funny little flight-form-related bug this morning that I wanted to share.

Ya know how sometimes when you log off you get the 20 second timer, even on PvE realms? (seems random, anybody know the logic?)

You can't do much once the timer is ticking, but if you're flying you apparently CAN shift out of flight form...it drops you into caster form and you just float there not falling while the clock counts down. I thought that was pretty neato.

Then when I logged back on having forgotten about that I thought it kinda sucked that I promptly plummeted to the ground, lost half my health and engaged the three mobs I'd been floating above. : /

Health pot and bear form FTW, thank god. : )

Does it really cost 8 gold?
Is there a quest to get flight form?
Last one, do you just buy flying mounts once you have the coin or do you have to have some sort of rep?
