Weapons for a level 40?Follow

#1 Oct 02 2007 at 3:21 AM Rating: Decent
Well, recently started playing, and had been duel wielding until I read that 2h weapons were better for hunters. Still would like to know if this holds true at my level?
But, on to the real question. Been trying to find new weapons for a while (Bow and Sword, as I really don't care for going through switching to a gun and having to raise the skill, though I will if I must)
Been using a http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=3197&locale=enUS;source=live ..of the Monkey I think (8 agility 9 stamina or something to that point iirc)
and a
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13019&locale=enUS;source=live

Been checking the Auction House every few hours, but have yet to see anything above what I'm wielding, so curious if there are any that drop that I can go get myself, that aren't on that global list? Or are all things on that? That still confuses me as to how it works
Final question is- If I get an option between a weapon with, random numbers thrown out there.. 14 agility vs. one with 9 agility/9 stamina .. The latter is the one I should go for, correct?
Thanks

lvl 35-40 of the monkey/falcon bow/xbow/gun and 2h axe/polearm/2h sword will be just fine.

If you can tough it out for 2 levels you could run Uldaman and try for Grimlok's Charge

As far as a ranged weapon, I browsed the AH found some decent ones there, until I ran Maraudon and got verdant Keeper's Aim But mara probably shouldn't be ran until mid 40's

Thanks for suggestions, will look into those when patch is over ^_^
Another question, but not really a weapons one as much as a stat one, that I have been thinking about
X stamina = 1 agility in importance? Been trying to upgrade my armor, but I'm still wearing the same boots I was at level 27 (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=16977&locale=enUS;source=live)
due to them having more agility than anything I have found in AH.. Haven't even seen any mail boots with agility on them, though I have seen plenty with 13-15 stamina ..
So, does 15 stamina = 8 agility? Aka, it worth dropping those 8 agility for the armor upgrade and stamina upgrade? Having a hard time wording that question, hope you get what I'm trying to say >_>

According to the model I drew up a while back (where I assigned a value to each stat):
1 Agility = 5 points
1 Stamina = 3 points
1 Intellect = 3 points
1 AP = 3 points

There were more stats involved, but you probably wont see them for a while. The full rating system is in my sig. Keep in mind that while agility is great, you may want to branch off at some points. A hunter with 200 agility and 50 stamina would be easy to kill, while a hunter with 150 agility and 150 stamina would not (I know there's more stats on the second, but when you have "of the monkey" you get more total stats out of it).

So, if you go from +8 agility to +13 stamina, according to my system that would be from 40 points to 39 points...if that helps. But any more and the stamina boots would be better.

Ah, I see, exactly what I was asking ^_^
Sorry for taking so long on reply.. No sleep makes me forget things >_>

omens and vanquisher. Nuff said.
they're free if you've the time to run the quests for them (if you're hord) but you can always run the allied equilivent if you're not. if you're not intersted in instance quests. I can't help you there.

I would agree with skribs but I wouldn't rate stamina as highly if you don't do much pvp.
Although your health add's to your pets health it's a small gain.

My tip is about a weapon you shouldn't use.

I see quite a few hunters using them....

For the love of GOD! Hunters should not be using Phantom Blade

Stear clear of this weapon....it = instant huntard

a number of hunters use that blade because of the looks. clear crystal blades forming an x upon the hunter's back looks cool even if it's not doing anything.

in any case. good hunters look for anything that adds attack power, (not meelee or feral) adds agi, stamina, crit and intelegence, pet dps/crit and proc on ranged hit, and mp/5

Do not roll on strength, defense, meelee ap, or proc on hit. (not ranged) spell damage, and human stupidity.

may roll on +dodge, parry, aggro reduction, spirit, player intelligence (if he/she does not have enough).

You can use the lookup to the left to get stuff like this:

2h AXE:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=15270

2h Sword:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=8199

Polearms:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=13058
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=9416 (as in previous post)
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=9480
... and at the high 40's... go for:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=13059

Of course, that is only if you want 2h weapons. DW isn't hideous as there are some fine 1h weapons that have better stat bonuses when added together than some of the above.

Also, as was previously said, look for Monkey but you can get away with Wolf and depending on spec, a few others.
