Not aiming for Glad is fun.Follow

So me and my 2v2 that was shooting for Glad decided to stop as we were just hitting to much of a barrier at the 1950 level or so (gear limitations on my part I feel) so we decided to disband and get rid of the team ( <3 making your charter money back).

So i have a few regular buddies that are somewhat talented all around and have different teams. A few are on my 5v5 which actually hit 1724 this week and capped the night with a 4v5 win due to a disconnect in the startup area. Felt great.

So I finally got some time to play Saturday and Sunday. So I joined my Resto druid buddies 2v2 he fiddles with. 1550-1720 in an hour. Fun.

He logged and I left to go try out Rogue/SP with another friend on my 5v5. 1600-1741 in about 35min. Fun arena matches and a pretty fun setup. Sidenote: A good SP is amazing. Wow. First time actually getting to play one, and having the dispels, knowing how to pop out and flash heal is amazing. The only team we lost to was a War/Druid, but it was our second matchup and we definately held our own, just didn't get lucky enough on the burst finish.

Back to the story.

My 3v3 team wasn't much. Just us playing when my two partners had time as they mainly are focusing on Gladiator for 2v2 and 5v5. We hit 2000 but bounced back and forth from 1940-2010 or so. We usually only played 10games a week just for the points(mainly for me) just to gear out a bit, and unfortunately (yet fortunately) my skill writes checks my gear can't cash.

So I finally left the 3s for this season until the start of S3 (Ele Sham, UA, rogue is going to be fuuuuuuun). I joined a Priest friends 3v3. One of the few actually good PVP priests on our server. It was him, myself, and a BM hunter. 1600-1741 in a night. Was nice seeing a hunter and rogue working well. Was a big learning curve for me not playing with a hunter and having to remember, no, I can't open up here, because the hunter will be LOS.

So here is to tonight, me and my Resto druid friend trying out some 3s combos. Planning on Druid/Rogue/Fmage, although I really want to try out Druid/Rogue/UA, we shall see how it goes.

I envy you a bit.

Unless my score go down, I'm guaranteed Duelist and have a decent shot at Gladiator on my 3v3.

But it's extremely stressful, kinda wish I could just quit my team and play with a friend sometimes... but well, I can't. It's very business like now.

Don't get me wrong, there's a thrill associated with that too, but I do miss the more casual arean feel.

I want a title, but honestly, on my battlegroup Duelist is incredibly easy to get in 2v2.

Duelist is about top 1000 (give or take 150 or so), which is incredibly easy to get. Getting above 1840-1860 or so in 2v2 is guaranteed Duelist, which isn't hard to get regardless of your teammate choice really.

I envy you guys and having people that can actually PvP.

I'm stuck teaching my priest this season, hoping for next season, at the same time gearing up.

Added to that, I'm in the BG either right behind BG9 in terms of difficulty or two behind. Titles are effing hard to come by for someone who isn't involved with PvP guilds.

Enh, it looks like my 5v5 will be branching into two teams for next season, a hardcore one and a casual. I'm hoping I get invited to the hardcore (I should, considering I have easily the highest win/loss ratio on the team), because with a good setup, I can easily seeing us doing a 4 DPS gib team and getting to 1900+.

/envy.

I'm in the same boat as theo. I don't play often enough to build a vast amount of synergy with my group mates, and all of them are PvE'rs first and PvP'rs second. What I wouldn't give for a good priest :/

My priest and I are both busy with school, so we're using this season to learn how to PvP while still getting points for gear.

Next season will be the fun ****, when we get to go after 1900 in 2v2.

That's the goal I set, anyway.

Stop PVE'ing.

The second I did that, my ratings went up 200 points.

Helps to start learning who is the PVP crowd on your server and talking to them, offering yourself, etc. Asking if they have a spot for XX spec rogue, what their future plans are etc.

Now 2 months after quitting PVE, my rating clearly speak for themselves in the self improvement, and you also develop a nice relationship with the PVP crowd. I have literally about 15 or so on my friends list that just PVP and I need on FL to keep track of who is on when for groups etc.

Not to mention the constant "2s?" inv's I get. Last night I got bombarded with 7 different tells after I let a few people know I left my 2s and 3s @_@

Not quite sure how you do it.

This game is a pve game first, there isn't enough pvp content to keep me satisfied.

My rating speak for themselves, yet I'm the leader of a pve guild who just started hitting SSC/the Eye (Killed Void Reaver yesterday).

While pve doesn't really do anything for your pvp career, it help keeps me interested in the game.

That would mean there's 30,000 2v2 in your battlegroup... that seems a bit high. ;p

Lowest person I have seen was ranked 28.9k

So my math is pretty close to right. Why I said give or take 150. Being top 700 would definately give you Duelist.

Hmm, guess that means I can stop fretting about duelist.

Kind of wish Blizzard would let us know how many teams are in each bracket. It's nice that they're giving us a ranking, but it doesn't do us much good when we have no idea if being 1000th means you're in the top 10% or top 3%...

Yeah.....after seeing MYteddy's rating I'm feeling some envy here.

I guess I'm one of the few rogues up here that just does arena casually. It's fun as hell, and that's the way I want it to stay. I hated the stress of having to put 4 hours a night into the PVP grind (before BC and all the honor/ranking changes).

I have enough stress irl.....don't need any more in Wow.

I rarely play more then 10 games a week per bracket. Especially on the 3v3, rarely worth the risk.

It's not the amount of time that's difference, it's the stress and intensity of every game.

After the initial grind (honor) you would be suprised how casual arena is once you get good.

I play about 3-7 hours a week tops in arena.

It's for my terribad 5v5, too. Smiley: grin

Pretty sure I don't even think my 1724 5s will get me Duelist. MAYBE Rival. I'll have to see when I log on tonight =/

I don't get how you get arena ranks. Is it dependant on rating or battlegroups and where do you have to be for each (challenger, rival, duelist, glad)?

It's based on how many teams are in each individual bracket of your battlegroup.

If you're in the top:

35% for Challenger, 15% for Rival, 5% for Duelist, 1% for Gladiator?

How can you find out how many teams are in the bracket for my battlegroup? My friend is giving me a free ride in the 1700's and I'm sucking horribly. 1-5 :D.

Well, you have to have played 20% of the games on the team.

I just found someone on my server who was rated really low (i.e. 1300-1200) and see what rank they are in the armory.

Close.

Thanks for the correction. It appears through extensive research (i.e. 5 mins looking at armory links) that both of my teams will get me Challenger, so grats me?

Anyway, do we know if there are going to be new titles for S2? Or are they the same?
#26 Oct 01 2007 at 3:40 PM Rating: Excellent
Challenger is so Season 1 tho ;p.

My 2v2 missed Duelist by a few position on S1, it appears I'm getting it at the end of S2 tho.

I'm not sure if we'll be able to make Gladiator... probably not, but I guess we'll try. 310% flying mount would be nice.
