#1 Oct 01 2007 at 10:44 AM Rating: Decent
I thought id ask to here to get an idea of what you guys would suggest as this answer! Here goes: my friend and I are making alts and he has decided to roll a horde priest, whilst i am stuck between lock, mage and warrior so my question is which would you guys recommend/or have had the most success with as a partner?
Thanks in advance

Roll a Warlock, simply because they benift each other GREATLY if the Priest is Shadow and the lock is... well... anything really :3 With a Shadow Priest causing mobs to take extra shadow damage, the lock benifits. A Destro lock gets a reduction of shadow resist which benifits Shadow Priests. The Lock pets get a large damage increase (felguard, VW, Felhunter, Succ) with the priests +shadow damage... I could go on, but I digress!

IMO Roll a Lock, they are fun and easy to lvl, you can choose any spec and still be wanted in instances AND it will make lvling togeather alot easier, with your VW tanking whilst you two nuke it :D

P.S. If you do roll a lock, put your first 5 points into Imp. Corruption, it meens you gain alot more manuveability :D

Advantage of a lock: Very easy grinding. Synergizes excellently with a shadow priest priest. Once you hit high levels, you'll probably be able to DoT-pull huge numbers of mobs between the two of you. Locks are probably the strongest single PvP class, and a healing priest is the single greatest asset to either side in BG's.

Advantage of a mage: AoE farming/grinding. Extremely fast and fairly easy with a healer. Can burst down enemies very quickly in single-target situations.

Advantages of a warrior: You can take lots of hits, and properly specced can deal out tons of damage. A warrior/priest combo in PvP is a force to be reckoned with. You have the two hardest parts of any 5-man instance.

It really depends on your personal preference.

Priest - Warlock

Pros: Shadow priests and warlocks compliment each other very nicely. High dps means mobs will go down fast. With things like soul stone and rez you'll have a sort of safety net for those times when things go bad.

Cons: You'll both be needing the same type of gear; shadow spell dmg, stamina, intellect, all cloth and weapons like staffs and wands.

Priest - Druid

Pros: Druid can dps or tank when needed and even heal if necessary. Priest can go shadow for damage and still heal to get by. What's nice about this combo is if you group you could fill in the 3 other slots with dps and while druid tanks. Or you could get another tank and druid could fill in as off-healer and/or dps. With 2 potential healers and a potential tank it makes filling in the rest of the group easier and quicker. You'll also be using different types of armor and weapons; Druid with leather and priest with cloth. Makes gearing up quicker.

Cons: Druid will need to keep multiple types of gear for dps, healing and tanking. Druid can sneak around in cat form but priest won't be able to get around as easy.

Priest - Warrior

Pros: Warrior can go with a dps spec and still tank when needed. Easy to fill in rest of group. Different gear types. Makes gearing up quicker.

Cons: If the priest goes down there's nothing the warrior can do about it.

I would base it mostly on what you want to play. It's pointless to play a class if you don't like it.

If you're going to group a lot I would take the priest-warrior combo. Mainly because it'll be easy to fill in the rest of the group slots.

If you're going to just group with you two I'd probably go with priest-warlock.

Do you like to run instances?

Priest/warrior combo makes it easy to round out a group for instances. You've filled the two most essential parts of any 5-man.

Another benefit is you won't be rolling against each other for gear. Especially early, cloth gear isn't very class specific, so a Warlock or Mage would often want the same drops as the Priest.

My husband and i have been levelling a Priest/warrior combo and it's been a lot of fun :D We never have to wait to fill a group, and i've been able to level and spec disc/holy instead of shadow (play a warlock for 18 months and shadow quickly loses it's appeal :S). We also have a lot of fun in PVP and plan to do Arenas at 70.

As mentioned the Warlock/shadowpriest combo is also awesome, but there will be major arguements over any +shadow gear ;) .

priest druid combo works just as well as a priest warrior. additionally, the druid doubles up as dps when you're not running instances.

You need to play what you enjoy...but that being said,

Priest-Warrior has unlimited possibilities for PvE all the way through raiding if the warrior likes tanking.

My boyfriend and I just recently rolled a priest/warrior group for the ease of instancing. It's really tough for me to make the transition from my beefy hunter to the squishy priest, but my boyfriend is making the change from rogue to warrior really easily.

We really, really wanted a druid/druid or priest/druid team, but we didn't want to be cows, and we rolled horde to play with some real life friends

Thank you for all the input!
Didn't expect so many responses, I've got a rogue atm on the ally "side". So we are going horde to get a taste of the other faction :)
Im still stuck but have eliminated mage so its lock or Warrior.

Still unsure between those though, as you have sais they both have there advantages so its a tough call lol.

Im gonna check the server list and see how in demand warriors are!

Thanks for your help
