Guidance concerning PvP Gear Choices Follow

For the most part the regulars all know that I'm n00berrific with a guild that hates rep grinding is instance repeating (as if we did it right just because we cleared it), but I love 'em so while they are leveling on the horde side I decided to try some PvP.

Firstly, this is strictly a BG discussion...my reasoning is there is no reason to get on an arena team when I haven't the first iota of PvP skill and that if I BG that perhaps I would develop some skill. So no arena team for me :( for now.

Secondly, my gear blows. I've been told that I would be okay in Kara (will never happen probably refer to guild discussion above) but for PvP I'm sure it stinks. With graduate school starting up my schedule doesn't presently allow me more than 1.5-2 hours of total gameplay (from login to logout) maybe 3-4 days a week. So I can't run the instances I need to get the gear I want to help me in my non-PvP gear transition.

With that said, I've been racking up HKs and honor this weekend in AV that surprises me (which is why I love you guys!) and now I'm not sure what to purchase first...

Now is where I ask for input from you guys. It would be nice if along with your suggestions you could share some reasoning love but I'll settle for "get 2 pieces of GM n00b" if its all I get.

You might as well get on an arena team. If you plan to take arena seriously in S3, getting in there and learning tricks is the best way to improve your PvP play in general, and you'll be earning arena points for next season. At this point it'd be very difficult to get any gear for next season, but you might be able to buy a MH or one of the new pieces at the start of the next season.

As far as honor rewards go, at this point you might want to save your points. We've got about a month or two left in this season, and when new gear is released in patch 2.3, it's going to be noticeably better than the gear we currently have available, mainly because it's going to have armor penetration.

The only thing I'd say you can safely buy is the 2 min trinket.

Okay...trinket bought.

I'll just rack up in the meantime...and try to ***** onto a team. I was gonna buy the vet's pendant or bracers since I thought they would be better than what I had even for PvE but I have a feeling I'd be pissed if I bought that now and 2.3 was around the corner.

P.S. 215 HK in a 18 min AV!!! I'm sure thats not much but I felt really good. I should keep a holy pally on a payroll.

edit: just fixing my sig finally...hopefully

Great so I have time to rack up some HPs and marks while trying to get on an Arena Team and get some skill and arena points.

Good plan glad I thought of it :P

Keep in mind that they will add new Boots/Bracers/Belt/Cloak for honor in 2.3 so save your points if you planned on buyin the vet's gear.

Also, you will be able to buy Season 1 arena gear for honor when 2.3 hits, so this is another good reason to save. Getting full 2.3 veterans and full S1 gear will help you a lot in getting competitive in arena.

So start farming honor like mad and get into a 5v5 arena team immediately. Doesn't matter if it sucks ****, but losing 10 games a week and getting 300 points, is obviously better than 0 points a week. You'll also get a ton of experience along the way.

Good luck

With arena point normalization, it really doesn't matter what team you get on. My 2v2 gets 100 less points than my 5v5, and both are 1600.

Getting points is the important part.

BTW, thanks for saying what I said in my post.

Does anyone know quickly off the top of their head how many honor points one can store without having to spend?

I will probably have found it myself before someone replies but I thought it was worth a try.

I think it's either 50,000 or 100,000.

If S3 starts in November, I'm going to be depressed... that will mean S2 lasted a full month longer then S1 and I'm going to be sitting on 5k points for awhile :(

Well the more time I get to rack up points the better. I should be somewhere around 15k and hopefully i can keep a pace of 15k a week (really need less school right now) and in 2-3 (hopefully 4...sorry tyrandor) weeks i can have a good amount of marks and honor points.

I'm trying to get my name out there with the PvP crowd on my server so I can jump into an arena team as well.

We'll see I guess.
