Damage meter questionFollow

Well as some may know i have recently switched from marksman/survival To Beast master/marksman. I'm having a blast. But i did have a question. Does the damage meter factor your pets damage into your own. Or does it show then on two separate tabs.
And yes I realize that I could go download it. I tried to but sadly when I have more than threat meter and cartographer running. my computer moves at a snails pace and is anything but playable.

You can set it to do either.

I have been trying to find some Mods for my hunter and am getting really confused as to what I am looking at. Which damage meter is the most popular now? I also would like a good auction house mod if one is out there, to give me an idea of what my goods may be worth, I do skinning and mining and seem to spend hours trying to establish prices in the ah. Any recommendations on some good mods would be greatly appreciated. Simplicity of installation is very important, I am a computer idiot.

Thanks in advance.

What damage meter you use is unimportant really. Usually, most guilds have a set Damage Meter mod you can use if you are raiders. We use SWstats for easy synch. Good Damage meter, easily synched, and easy to use. Damage Meter (the original one) is almost identical, only less detailed when it comes to synch channels and so on. We found that SWstats was in fact more accurate.

But Damage Meters aren't really any point anyway, unless you are in raids and use them to analyze damage patterns and encounter efficiency. In a pug it's just in the way, causing way too many players to lose focus on their job and instead keeping their eyes on the Damage Meters hoping to be able to list it after while rubbing their E-peen.

I got sick of seeing other people's damage meters that did not include my pet, so I finally installed one this weekend and marked it to combine my pets data with my own. ( I generally run as few mods as possible )

Result: I was number one with a bullet. My Ravager tends to pump out quite a bit of DPS. This was in SL with a Rogue and a Warlock and I was also freeze trapping.

Yes its an epeen thing and I do agree with North that damage meters can cause stupid people to play badly, but if you're a hunter and want to see how much damage your really doing you will have to install your own damage meter most likely.

I'm actually thinking of getting a damage meter specifically to counter the people who use them. From the dps Warrior in my failed Black Morass run who claimed to have done 1.32 million damage during the run (compared to my 480k) to the people who discount pet damage in their meter, it would be more of an "orly?" tool than anything else.

I use the combine thing and since I got Prince Bow, there wasn't an instance were I was actually not #1 unless it's something brief and I am doing something else, like CC or a Maiden fight in Kara. Even then, by not much. In 5mans, the gap is usually very big between me at #1 and the rest. I have only met few dps* classes that managed to keep up with me and stay close. Not really bragging, just stating facts from my experience.

I have met Hunters with same weapon and better gear, and still come out 100k or more behind. I am usually auto/steady as BM and weave other stings when it is needed, such as when there is a good gap on a threat meter between me and tank. Usually steady/auto is more than enough to out agro a lot of tanks in pugs, with some exceptions(I love those tanks) so FD or some gaps in rotation with just autos is plenty. There is no trick really. ~ ~

i've seen pets rolled into your damage and pets rolled separately. personally i like it when other classes are all "roffle u nub, i beat u on dmg", then getting to point out that your pet damage is separate, adding them together spanked the opposing party member. ah priceless.

DamageMeters does not show pety pets/totems/wtf combined with the other players damage, only your own. SWStats shows the whole party+pets damage, therefore confirming the fact that SWStats is indead more accurate. Especially if your in a group with BM hunter and not giving him the justice of having his pets damage grouped in with his.

All Damage Meters show pets bundled with your own if you set it to in the options. Haven't seen any Damage Meters that doesn't have that option. Besides, if you don't bundle your pet, the pet should also show on the Damage Meters, so a quick mental math job and you'll have the numbers anyway. Separating pet and Hunter can actually be a good thing for analyzing DPS or the lack of it at times. That's how I improved my Hunter group's DPS standings in the guild, by analyzing which Hunters got the most of their pets and so on. It also showed the percentage of Steady vs Autoshots and showed who hadn't mastered the rotation so Auto wouldn't be delayed.

Damage Meters are awesome tools for raid efficiency, but I don't even bother opening them after a PuG. I know I have done my job anyway, and flashing the Damage Meters to prove myself right isn't a priority to me. If they are the "lol u suck at DPS" kind of people, I've got an extended Ignore list I use instead to avoid the retards later on.

And thanks, I found it and fell in love. First time I've changed avatars on these boards for ages.

Edit because spelling owned me

That is not what I am saying :)

DamageMeters does not show other hunter's pet's damage within your group, it only shows your own pets damage.

SWStats shows the other hunters and their pets.

DamageMeters you can set up to see the other hunters pets, but its a pain in the *** cause you have to filter through all the steady shot/auto shot BS that is parsed seperatly.

Damn Microsoft campus rules.

Heh, I'm in Oly. *Waves at Caldone as he rides by stuck in traffic.

I used to work up in your branch of the woods I don't miss that commute at all.

Ahem...yes damage meters should record how many drinks you have had!

I tried to play a drinking game in AV this weekend. Evertime we captured an objective we drank....I woke up with 8k in honor and no recolection of those last few games.
