daze? worth it or not.........Follow

#1 Sep 28 2007 at 5:42 PM Rating: Decent
Ok.....so I need some rogue's opinion's and info on this one please. I'm playing around with my spec's trying to build a good pvp build. I've read all the forums and have a good idea what I want, but can't figure out if I want to use daze. I have one point in it atm, and even though that's only a 10% to hit when correct abilities are triggered I don't really notice it. I think I've only seen it once, and it seemed like the mob was still attacking me. Can someone shed some light on this? Is it like a blind where damage breaks it, or is it an eight second stun? I would also have to avoid getting preporation to get that far down in the combat tree. (and I think that is unbelievable essential) Please give some feedback and thx.

If you're referring to the "daze" effect coming from Blade Twisting it is neither a stun nor is it broken by damage. The daze effect is the same as when a mob attacks you from behind. It slows your movement speed. So yes, the mobs will still be attacking you.

Edited for silly grammatical errors.

In raids, d/w fury warriors gain a nice bonus when they are using Heroic Strike as a rage dump, dazed targets take a good extra chunk of damage.

Otherwise for soloing I don't see the point.

I haven't leveled a rogue past 20 so I have a hard time imagining what good it does you for 5 mans or solo.

Crip Poison > Daze

I can see how Daze could be helpful in PvE, but in PvP I always have crip on my offhand and it always does the trick.

Really, not always true. Esp in high rated 5v5 environments. Daze can't be dispelled (not counting BoP and trinket), but poisons easily can. And daze isn't helpful in PvE. At least if you're in a decent raid group.

Zornov isn't in high-end 5v5s and neither are a vast majority.

The only reason I have it is because I can get to 10k HP without sacrificing a lot of stats to get it. (10154 HP, 1301 AP, 101 hit, 26.62% crit)

I know he isn't. I'm pointing out the fact that it's somewhat useful in different situations. He stated crip poison > Daze, which is sometimes false.

I've never had it, but I'd have thought that it wouldn't be great (or superior to crippling) in pvp due to the Mage talent that gives them a speed burst when dazed, combined with the rogue talent not being a choice as to when it dazes. Never played arena either though, maybe that talent isn't there in arena mages? Or it's worth more to daze others and live with the mage?

True I'm not even in an arena team in my Rogue. But for BG's I love it. :P

In PvE I also wasnt' referring to raids, but was saying daze could be helpful in soloing (those pesky runners)and in 5mans can also be helpful keeping mobs off the squishies when they pull aggro. ;)

Actually, it doesn't give us a burst of speed when dazed, it gives us a burst of speed 10% of the times we get hit. It does clear daze and other slowing effects when it procs, though.

I'm very very bored. It's either visit all the class forums or do some actual work.

And the latter isn't gonna happen.
