It's true... at least for the time being. My tanking career was always temporary as there is a prot Warrior in my guild who is also a real life good friend of mine who would prefer to tank in instances, he hit 70 before I did but then he took a long hiatus, but now he's starting to come back into the game. He is a very good tank, in all honesty I think I'm better however it's easier and probably better for me to switch to healing than him to switch to dps.

No one in my guild is remotely ready for kara, so we will only be doing 5-mans. I'm almost ready for kara with both tanking and healing gear. I logged out in my healing gear if you want to take a gander, still need some things and I'm working on the Starcaller's Leg dealies... I forgot the name, that quest I heard was soloable, so far I've gotten him down to 25% then I died, I don't think I've gotten a hang of it, any suggestions/strategies would help.

I healed my first instance... ever in all of my experiences on WoW (shows how much aversion I have to healing) started it light with SV. It was a cakewalk, I was surprised how often after a pull that I was still at full mana just from my mana regen and that I heal FoL for 1200 on the BoL tank.

Tried to do 3v3 with 2 of my buddies from the guild, that ended in failure: 1 - 13, mostly cause one of them was still in 60 greens >< (we smack him from time to time as punishment). Also because I'm still learning how to be an effective healer. Also cause we don't really have any cc (Paladin + Rogue + Shaman), I think that one fight we won was pure luck. To make myself feel better me and my rogue buddy did 2v2 and we won a few games in a row before calling it quits (got our rating back up to 1400, probably because im much better geared than last time).

I wonder if it was as bad as my 3v3 arena experiences last week. 1-9 and the only game we won was the first one, and they only had 2 people. After that match we never killed a single player... it was something else. lol

Your gear could use some enchants. Smiley: tongue

Otherwise looks alright.

Sounds about like my arenas this week on out 2v2. Then again, paladin with little resilience and crap hp + moonkin with even worse resilience and HP...well we didn't expect much. Smiley: laugh
#4bodhisattva, Posted: Sep 28 2007 at 6:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Capjack, do you want to raid or are you happy doing 5 mans at lvl 70?
#5 Sep 28 2007 at 9:30 AM Rating: Decent
I want to raid... just probably won't happen until a) my buddies are fine with me ditching the guild to join a raiding guild or b) my buddies let me start reqruiting in our current guild and transform it into a raiding guild. I gotta live with them in real life so I don't want that bad blood if I just pick up and leave, maybe as they get better geared they will want to do the second one.

All in all, I'm fine with doing 5-mans for now if it'll help out my buddies to gear up some, but I'm not looking or expecting to raid anytime soon.

Also, since I just switched I'm obviously still gearing up, probably will continue to do arena/bgs to get the rewards there, still want those pants though.

Alright cool, I'll probably think about it some more, but I'll probably be branded a traitor if I do, they won't stop being my friends, I'm just going to have to hear about it for the rest of my playing career. Any suggestions on soloing that quest? There's spellcrit on those legs so I'm lookin forward to that. Also Blessed Bracers when I get enough money or mats to get those, so i'm workin on that. I'm currently aiming for that 1200 healing, 70mp5, 17% crit mark for Kara.

Yep
#10 Sep 28 2007 at 10:33 AM Rating: Decent
I've posted so many lists of specific upgrade gear... I'm going to trim this down. Do heroics. Lots of heroics. Get badges, get heroic blues. And get some blessed bracers crafted.
#11bodhisattva, Posted: Sep 28 2007 at 10:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Your healing gear does need work, however you are well along your way. I also feel that you have set the bar a little bit high, not a bad thing but really you don't need to do all that work to be kara ready in terms of stats and boe epics.

Like I said I'll think about it, trust me I want to, but these are like my best friends from high school/college, we meet up like every week or so to hang out. I know your stance on this, I just wanna make sure I don't hurt anyone cause I've been in this guild since beta, and before that in FFXI with the same name and same people.

But with all this private channel stuff and voice chat and other things, I might be able to work out joining another guild.

ANYhoo, I wasn't really looking for gear advice, not that I don't appreciate it I do, just from floating around the board and making the FAQ I think I have a pretty good idea on what I'm going to go/should go for. Just discussion with my change and my experiences so far, who knows I might go back to tanking if I join a raiding guild that wants a Paly tank.

If advice for anything.... soloing that quest advice?? :D
#13bodhisattva, Posted: Sep 28 2007 at 11:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well you think about it then, I just have to say from a guy who made a similar move I really think it reignited the game for me.

Thanks Bod, you are awesome for talking this through with me:

Bod gains 1000 rep with CapJack
Bod is now Unfriendly with CapJack (lol jk)

Dimensious the All-Devouring (quest to get the Starcaller's Plated Legguards) I've read all the posts on the allakhazam entry for the quest, and people are saying they solod it as a 70 holy paladin, but I've tried it several times now and just can't seem to get the knack of it.
#15bodhisattva, Posted: Sep 28 2007 at 11:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I did that quest, was myself a mage and a ret pally (ew!)

I couldn't manage to solo it as a holy paladin, but had no problem doing so as a mage. Got a rogue in to help out and my paladin soon had a quest completed. But I had just gotten my purple skirt the night before so I wasn't really worried about it since it's more about fashion than stats for me. Smiley: tongue

I don't know how any melee characters manage to solo that quest. That said, I saw a lock solo it once...not that that counts for anything...

I got the quest done by going onto general chat and offering 10g to anyone who'd help me kill that blue *******, because I REALLY wanted those legs. It was late (like 3 in the morning, if memory serves) and there were about 6 people in the entire zone...and four of them found me amusing enough to give me a hand. They wouldn't even take the money, hehe.

If you really want to get it done, I hear any ranged class can solo him. So just get a friend to tag along and make with the pewpew :) Or if you're impatient like I am, gold talks, man. And people like to listen.

OH also I've been using the following macro to help me in my healing, basically it casts Cleanse, Holy Light, Flash of Light, or Blessing of Freedom depending on the key I have pressed down to the specified target (player and party1-4,I have 5 of them) obviously I would only do this in 5-man groups.

/cast [modifier:alt,target=party1] Holy Light; [modifier:shift,target=party1] Flash of Light; [modifier:ctrl,target=party1] Blessing of Freedom; [target=party1] Cleanse

So it defaults to cleanse, but depending on the key I press, it theoretically will cast the associated spell, also using the ? for the macro makes it real easy to determine which I am going to cast as it updates depending on the key I'm pressing.

This has allowed me to very quickly heal without even having to touch the mouse. However, one problem I noticed is with Holy Light, if I don't have anyone targetted, it won't go off, only the hand will glow like it wants me to click on someone. However, if someone is targetted, it will allow me to cast Holy Light on anyone, not necessarily the one I have targetted. Also the Blessing of Freedom part of it doesn't work.

I think I'll switch from the party1-4 technique to a mouseover so I only have to have one macro, however the modifier thing I think works out pretty well.

Well I joined a new guild that is just starting to get into raiding, hasn't actually run Kara yet but is working fervently towards doing so, probably getting keys as we speak. Looking around most of them (especially the tanks) are going to have a big wake-up call in terms of gear, and from the info I've gleaned off here I'll probably be helping out for that. I like this setup cause I like the idea of discovering this world with a group who hasn't run it before, so we can come up with strategies together.

Still enjoying healing, I found these guys as I healed a guild run for them and we all hit it off pretty quick. I got my pants finally so I'm happy about that though I hate how they look.

ANYhoo just thought I'd give an update.
#20bodhisattva, Posted: Sep 30 2007 at 4:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If they aren't all keyed in a week leave.

Grats on finding a new guild that you like. But give some of the dps a couple days longer, not everyone likes to take us rogues to SL/SV. I remember it took me a couple days back when i was working on getting keyed to get my first shard. Cause honestly, most rogues suck.

They are rather hideous, aren't they?

Also, pantless CapJack...mmmm ^_^. Tell me, does this happen before or after White Castle?
