I'm a lvl 69 Shadow Priest and I feel like I'm at a point where my character is going to change and I have some decisions to make. I was wondering if some priests could give me some input on these issues:

1. Do I switch to Holy or stay Shadow? I talked to my guild and they don't have a strong preference, it seems like Holy is what I "should do". If so, is there a standard Holy build I can switch to?

2. For tailoring, should I still specialize in Mooncloth regardless? It seems like this is good either way for bags and such and if I do decide to stay Shadow this could still be beneficial.

3. What gear should my character be wearing at this point? I mainly have plus int plus spirit stuff right now. Where do I get gear to get ready for Kara raids and such?

4. What is necessary to get ready for Kara??? My guild runs it weekly and I'd like to get in on that eventually.

I know it's alot of questions but I feel like I need some knowledge on this stuff before I hit 70 and don't know that my purpose in the game is. Thanks in advance for the help fellow priests!

You need to pick a spec before you decide what Tailoring spec to choose.

If you go shadow, the Shadoweave set you get is better than Tier four, and the boots won't get replaced until the T6 instances I think.

Just decide what spec you want to play with first, everything else you do will depend on this.

In terms of gear for a shadow priest, please see the post I made about it. It is still on the first page of the forum. In fact, I'll even link it for you but next time take a look around at other posts as well :D

If you stay shadow, max tailoring and have your shadoweave set made before you step into Kara. You should have 700 shadow damage at least. I had about 800 when I started Kara because I had every piece of epic tailoring gear you cxan get made. It really help, you will wear it until Tier 5 because Tier 4 is really not that great for a shadow priest. There's also a post about raiding as a shadow priest a few posts below this one that I wrote as well. Reading it may help you quite a bit, especially understanding what stats to look for on gear. Since all the info is in other posts for shadow, that's all I'll say about that.

If you go holy, the Primal Mooncloth and Whitemend sets are generally accepted to be better than Tier 4 as well.

In terms of where to go for gear, there is the post I linked for Shadow Priests, but you will need to do your own research for Holy gear. I like to use wowhead.com and set up filters so that it will show me only one slot, and all the rare gear or higher for that piece and go through them to see what is best and where they drop.

At this point, I think you just need to go take a look at the stickies on the priest forums here, at the world of warcraft website and just decide what you want to do. All the questions you asked have been asked by other people many times before and are all already answered elsewhere. I find you learn more if you find the info yourself than if others find it all for you :)

That, and I have to go to my next class now so can't type anything else at the moment.

Stay Shadow until you get bored with your character. You offer more utility to the group as shadow than you do as a healer. If you get tired of dps-ing, you could always switch then.

imb neth bags (18-slotters) are very good. having all 20-slotters is excessive (and expensive... a new 70 could better spend that gold elsewhere). i recommend shadow cloth tailoring, but either way you can get the Spellstrike or Battlecast hood and pants.

+damage gear. I use wow-loot.com to find the best normal instance gear.

The quest chain to get keyed for kara starts with the archmage just outside of kara entrance.

Khalane,

Where can I find into on the "tiers" of raiding gear? I'd like to be able to pull up the different tiers of gear and check em out.

Couple things...

1. Any tailor can make mooncloth bags. If you really want it, just pick up the pattern from the mooncloth tailor specialist. Just like a mooncloth tailor can make the 28 slot soul bags. The only limitation to the specialties is the armor sets.

2. You can also check for upgrades on your armory page. Just pick the upgrade you want and find out how to get it.
