Here is a small list of changes to the Warlock class that are expected to be implemented in the next content patch:

* Ritual of Souls now takes significantly less time to cast and complete.

* Banish can no longer be cast on targets tapped by other players or groups.

* Healing reduction effects will now affect all health drain spells and abilities (e.g. Mortal Strike will reduce health gained from Drain Life).

-Vaneras

Ritual of souls change, nice.

Banish change - meh, whatever not that bothered.

Drain life change - This one irks me. Does this now mean that Drain Life will benefit from +healing, seeing as it is now considered a healing spell, as opposed to a leech spell?

Now, I'm not a PvPer so this won't affect me terribly, but to my mind this is a serious nerf to all you PvPers out there. Warriors, once difficult now become near impossible - Rogues, already hard to beat won't even break a sweat any more.

Would be nice to hear some views from some PvP locks, what do you guys think about this change?

i severly doubt it'll benefit from +healing seeing as it's still a DAMAGE spell, the heal is just a leach effect. the thing i'm interested about is whether or not the MS effect will only decrease the healing done to us or also the damage done to the warrior? (i doubt it, but it's a possibility). it's a massive nerf though. gonna see alot of afliction, SL/SL and felcon/demo locks respecing to destruction. just wait for the nerf cries for backlash, soulleach, Nether protection and shadowfury. personnaly I think that this is a complete over-compensate as it's only the nub players / teams that have issue with locks. the ones who know what they're doing haven't had to many issues with us and can usually beat us 50:50 (which i presume is what blizzard is aiming for with all these nerfs and buffs to others.)

I like to have a lot of bonus healing and bonus Shadow damage, because Drain Life will most certainly be affected by one. I had already thought healing affected it, but guess not.
Causing healing bonuses to stack with Drain Life (or any related spell) seems only logical, because it is a damage spell, but the healing effect is still a healing effect. However, the bonus healing should not cause the spell to deal more damage.
Some people might not realize, but a warlock can heal themselves and their minions has good as some healers (personally, I'd compare the effects to a non-specialized shaman). We can and do use healing, but it is just not noticeable to anyone but us for the most part.

I have to agree with the + healing affecting our drains. If its considered an healing effect from the mortal strike point of view, it should be too from the + healing gear point of view.

But in my opinion we can dream, after all, resilience affects our dots, and our dots still can't crit? =/

It's just ******** that every other class is going to enjoy major buffs and we're getting nerfed AGAIN. I don't mind being nerfed occasionally but THROW US A ******* BONE. We've been dink and dunked every patch after 1.6.

Well the fact is, blizzard listens to the majority. Whether its a screaming illogical mob or not is not the issue, blizzard will listen regardless (it just takes them forever). They also risked losing PVP customers to warhammer if they didnt act like they were listening. Look at EVERY issue that was screamed about in the PVP boards for months. Just about every one of them has been addressed.

The fact is 90% of players think we're OP. Thats it. You can argue with them until you're blue in the face, it won't change their perception of warlocks = OP.

Now take a full merciless geared lock, I agree with the mob, nobody in the game can touch them. Name one class who can beat a fully geared out PVP lock, theres truely none at the highest level. That bullcrap of "well this game isn't balanced around 1v1" is just a copout, there should never be a class who can destroy every other class in the game.

The problem is non-merciless locks aren't on that level, but merciless locks truely are. 13k HP, soul link, siphon life, drain tanking, fear, a counter to every single classes abilities in our huge bag of tricks. PVP locks did need a nerf, and other classes (shamans, arena hunters, non-resto druids, rogues ability to be kited) needed a buff. Theres obviously other classes out there that needed them too, but off the top of my head thats a pretty good list.

Drain tanking through pillars, I mean wtf is that? Dancing a hunter around a pillar is not skill, its just retarded. Mages kiting a rogue with frostbolts, same deal. Shamans just all around sucked, warriors still haven't got a nerf which they desperately need, paladins who made warrior teams OP got a nerf, its starting to come together. I think after 2.3 the focus will be taken off warlocks and shifted to the next target, warriors, who have been ridiculous for months now.

The fact that we're being nerfed, yet again, doesn't bother me as much as the fact that we're just never getting buffed. I want PvE buffs if we're so OP for PvP. I want SOMETHING, some kind of consolation prize. "Sorry we keep gutting your class, have a cookie."

Sigh.

Just as I was getting REALLY good at drain tanking...

I refuse to reroll though.

Just GET BETTER at what you do...brains over brawn I guess. I hadn't worked out how to beat a bleedin' warrior or rogue yet anyway, so...

You forgot one thing: "All priests get fear ward". Yeah, it's a buff for priests, but yet another nerf for warlocks.

On the other hand it now has a 3m CD, so it's a nerf to the serious Alliance PvP teams who were running Dwarf (or Dranei) priests and could make their entire team immune.

Don't know if it's an overall nerf or buff, but at least you won't throw up a Howl of Terror and see five immune messages anymore.

Warlocks are kind of ridiculous in PvE too, so... meh?

Join the club, we're getting Mace Stun nerfed (boo) and can no longer become immune to Disarm, which is pretty much game-breaking.

Damn I loved doing this to people who stole mobs from me (not really mob stealing just me being slower than them) but you know, haha, fun thing used to **** people off. Ah well.

k, lets just spell this out.

drain life ISN'T a healing spell. it's a LEACHING spell. this means that the damage it does is the amount it heals (before modifiers that effect heals i.e. felarmour and now mortal strike). +healing can't effect it as it won't increase the damage it does.

omg its not that big a deal if they freakin nerf drain life, i think it needed to happen. and loki warriors get nerfed all the time give them a break, its hard to tank when you ruin all our moves

Yes, you're right, warriors take a bunch of nerfs, too. But occasionally they toss you guys something nice, like this little MS buff. I understand I'm going to keep getting nerfed, it's one of 2 things I learned about locks early (the other being that you can't expect anything you do to be considered good because warlocks are expected to be the best at everything).

What I want, though, are occasional buffs, just to make me feel like I'm NOT getting targeted as a class every time there is a new patch. I really do just want something that I can play with and say "yeah, ok, sure they nerfed drain, fear and DC, but at least they gave us XXXXXX" you know?

#16 Sep 29 2007 at 5:47 AM Rating: Decent
i would to see some buffs come to the warlock class also but this is just blizzard's way of pleasing the masses

Do they have this now? Cos some priest or other just killed the hell out of me outside UB and was immune to fear. The git.

THAT is a proper nerf.

Loki (the god, not the poster) is tied with his son's entrails to a rock slab beneath the earth. A snake drips venom into his eyes constantly and his 2nd wife uses a bowl to catch the venom when she can to ease his pain. When it gets full, she moves to pour it out and he writhes, causing earth quakes.

He made some people angry.
