A strong realization of a stubborn hunterFollow

#1 Sep 26 2007 at 9:42 PM Rating: Decent
for a long time i have been a strict mm/sv hunter.

I discounted many things about bm and sv primarys..

Tonight i will take these things back.

I have been playing bm for a while now. and this.. has shown me insight on many things..

we should really stop discussing how good one tree is over another.

Because they are like apples and oranges.

But the thing that they all share is this.. they are all extremely fun to play..

The bm hunters insane damage is super fun to play.
the mm hunters rediculous shot versitility is amazing to play.
and the sv hunters GODLY cc is cool to play..

all these builds have great aspects that they lend to defferent situations..

no one build is the cure all for everything.. yet no one build is worse than another.

I would defiantly recommend any player should play the three tree's for a while.. not just so you can have an opinion of all.. but to experience the fun of all

you will feel great no matter what you do..

regardless if its

a beast master cranking damage through the roof..

or a marksman hunter using insane versitility to completly control a mob..

or a survival hunter using traps and slowdowns to utterly cc a mob..

Or a mix of the above to add some flavor to the mix..

regardless of what you choose.. your a hunter and that is pretty damn sweet.

For the love of God! Format your post, seriously.
How do you expect anything you are writing to be taken seriously, when it is formatted like a drunk, blind monkey typed it by repeatedly humping a keyboard?

I sometimes get a kick out of people who try to argue how one spec is better than another, or one class is better than another. There are four things that are critical to the success of most any group: tanking, healing, dps, and crowd control. (I've left out buffing/debuffing because, despite being highly beneficial, is sort of a grey area.) Each class/spec adds something to the mix. Some focus purely in one area (ie. Prot Paladins/Warriors, Holy Priests/Paladins). Pretty much every other class/spec has strengths and weaknesses in some or all of those areas.

Having been a devoted BM spec Hunter from level 10-70, I'm absolutely loving Survival. When WotLK comes out, I'm going to respec BM for leveling. Exactly what spec I go with when I hit 80 will depend on which new talent abilities are included with the patch from 71-80.

I don't buy into the "my spec is better because..." nonsense. Better for what? In the case of Hunters, is it better for dps? Crowd control? Survivability? Versatility in a pinch? Group support? The spec I choose depends on the roll I'm trying to fill in a party. As a BM spec Hunter, I was getting frustrated at being only so-so in the CC department. I was frustrated at having to convince PUG tanks to pull in a timely fashion to match the cooldown on my first trap. I was frustrated that my pet was good for maybe 10 seconds of off-tanking vs. same-level elites in instances, at which point he was usually dead and I was missing a critical tool in my ******** My pet is even worse for OT in level 70 instances as an SV Hunter, but I have a number of other options at my disposal to help manage a situation gone wrong.

Honestly, with all of the options for versatility that go with being a Hunter, those Hunters that see themselves as dps and only dps come off as rather lazy. Anyone can stand back and spam a shot rotation, but what happens when a mob breaks off from the group and goes after a clothie? If the best you could get in terms of a party is a tank, mage, 2 hunters and a healer, is the mage going to be responsible for all of the CC on a 5 pull?

I've never been an MM Hunter. I don't know that I ever will be. Regardless, Trueshot Aura makes me a happy Hunter, so you'll never hear of me condemning the MM Hunter in my party because I'm happy with Survival. There's just no point. Blizzard wouldn't create the talent trees if they didn't each serve a purpose.

Yeah, I leveled with a MM build and kept it until a few days ago. Then, as I was trying to tweak my MM build my guildie showed me a SV build... I've always been interested in trying it, but I knew I didn't have the gear to do it at all. But Expose weakness looked sooo good. So I respec'd.
Damn, do I love it! I will, however, miss my scatter shot and my silence shot... but this build seems to fit me kinda nicely. Also, in heroic Bot I finally out dps'd my fully epic'd rogue friend. /cheer
The funny thing is, as my MM/SV build, I seem to do better CC wise than I do as a SV build. It could be that I've only run two instances with this new build though... Anywho. I agree, each talent tree is made to be fiddled with until the individual is happy with what they have, and each spec can be amazing or crappy.
Aurelius, I've run into a lot of hunters that can't trap. They set one and think "My job's done!" and twang away. And if you ever try to help any of them and give them advice they are offended by politely saying that they should try ---------. -.-:;

well, you can't be accused of putting up a wall of text with THAT much whitespace in it.

North is our local cuddly, loveable, porcupine. Doesn't take much to get his quills in a frenzy. This time, it's the format in which you write.

So, you might take his 'advice' even though it wasn't offered as such, instead, offered as a scathing critique that doesn't have any recommendation on 'how' to fix the formatting. He's ready to be a Newspaper editor or reporter.

For my part, yeah, too much whitespace, probably use consistent paragraphs, and bulletpoints on your finer statements would work nicely.

Then again, do whatever you like, it's an open forum, and careful trying to pet the porcupine... :D

The porcupine which inadvertantly has a decemating pation for Chocolate Pudding...

Yes all specs are good...

I still say mine is the best for my playstyle, and appears to have the highest DPS out of the Hunters I have played with.

That is all I will say, I am not going to get into yet another spec war, I have been in too many of those, and been on the loosing side of several. I need a ribbon for my AF uniform for that one...

I think everyone is slowly coming around to the idea that spec's have their place for both type of gameplay as well as player ability.

I just want the ribbon for playing with my lack of skills... wait, that's not a ribbon, it's a funny pointed hat, usually worn while sitting in the corner of a room...

LOL @ NorthAI. I thought the same thing. I felt like he was trying to make it a suspense novel.
