Additional Holy Damage on SoV Full StackFollow

With 505 spell damage and a full stack of vengeance, I hit for an additional 14 holy damage with a 1.6 weapon. Are you kidding me? 14? Why bother even making the change? Is it supposed to even things out since the stack does the same damage over 15 second instead of 12?

What is the point of complaining? An extra 3-15 damage is exactly that...extra. They also made it easier to maintain your 5-stack of the seal, meaning you will get more 5-stack judgements.

I'm with DDDevilz on this, over the length of boss fights this tiny bit of extra damage/threat per hit will add up to a non-negligible amount and it is entirely extra to what is used to do, and i didn't see anyone complaining that it needed a buff before.

On a related point, i read on the http://www.failsafedesign.com/maintankadin forums that using damage boosting effects when Vengeance DoTs are first applied will cause the damage increase to last throughout the entire duration of the DoTs!

So with the increase of the DoT timer to 15 seconds it'll be even more abusable. Might be good to switch out your spelldamage weapon once 5 DoTs are up and go for more white damage, after all it's not like you'll lose much from the bonus Seal of Vengeance damage ; )

'Course the reduction in Holy Shield/Consecration/etc.. threat would cause all kinds of complicated maths...

At least for me the complaint isn't that we will do a little bit more damage, it's the fact that it was hyped up to be more than it has turned out to be. You see all this about 5 stacks and then doing some extra damage, and it turns out to be 3: I must say I was quite disappointed. But then again, it's not the first time I've been disappointed with a Paladin change, and I'm certain it won't be the last.

They stated it would be small.

yeah, you can't expect it to be SoV then turn into SoR after 5 stacks. And hey, not having it myself I think SoV is a luxury for all you Ally Pallies anyway while I'm stuck with my non-dot SoR.

Yea, they did state small, but I was thinking (and it seems everyone else was too) small woulda been more like 10-20, still far less than SoR will do for me. Don't get me wrong, I love the change. We didn't need it, but it is nice. Just, pains to see 3 >.>

Is there any situation in which applying magic damage to a target could trigger some other effect?

And that would therefore be triggered by this extra damage from SoV?

I can't think of any such effects, all i can think of are "damaging attacks" rather than "magically damaging", but i've got a niggling feeling that they exist out there somewhere...

Welll..... I think there are some trinkets that activate when magical damage is done, however a tank wouldnt use them.

I think you are thinking of something like a Shadow Priest's Vampiric Embrace which gives the SPs damaging magical attacks the ability to heal the party for some amount. Paladin has no such tool and I can't think of any other classes abilities that would allow for this either.
