Have you ever had one of THOSE days? or instances... or even one-time events?
I'd like to hear about them - others may too.

I'll start:

So there I was flying in Skettis on my Epic- trying to do either the eggs quest or the Escort- or both- and I notice that I have a big fat "0" on my Feather Fall icon, meaning I have no reagent light feathers! And we all know how freaking annoying those Skettis Kaliri can be, but they usually can't do enough damage to knock me off my mount... Sure enough, WHAM, down I go. Now, I was tired of paying repair bills of over a gold or two and didn't want the inevitable next one, so I decided to try a "trick" I had read someone allude to in these boards, I was going to try to "Blink" at the last second before hitting the ground and see if that saved my hindquarters, since I was falling from such a high altitude that death was assured.

I adjusted the camera angle, I had time, it was a loooong fall, I was coming through trees and then -blink- I misjudged! However, with amazing luck, or perhaps it was fate rewarding me for trying such a crazy move, I did land on an exceedingly steep nountainside. It was too steep to move, and I was down to about 30% health before the fall, no damage from it because the crazy moved worked, but I knew I couldn't fall the rest of the way and live so I prayed that the little movement to eat and drink would not make me slide, and I sat. So THERE I was halfway up a mountain NO one, including K2 professionals could climb in RL, facing the mountain, butt hanging out, eating and drinking, and I get a tell from a passing 58 'Lock, "Ogpol" or something like that, that says just one word- "How?"
I contemplated bragging about the power of a mage, but I just went with "Believe me, you do NOT want to know," instead.

So what weird thing has happened to You recently???

ive missed time that blink trick a second too late, instead of taking 1 slot of damage i blinked Back up the fall and fell again, causing my untimely death, now that was frustrating, blink has its failures as much as its strengths lol e.g i hate not being able to blink from a road onto a bridge im running towards (e.g the one in lakeshire (just the one i remember most prominantely))

I actually have gotten pretty good at timing the blink before I hit. It is good practice!

I was in AB one time, at the Lumber Mill. We were a few points short of a win and climbing quick (I know, alliance winning AB?!?), so when the raid leader yelled all in, I figured I might as well go have some fun.

So I hop off the cliff, realise I'm out of feathers and hit blink just in time to save my life. Only thing is, I landed on the middle of a battle, exactly as a tauren shammy was popping a totem.

I'm thinking this was a glitch, but I got stuck under the totem. I couldn't move or blink, but since my mage is a gnome he's so small nobody noticed I was there until the hordies won the fight. So the tauren and his warrior buddy finally notice I'm standing there and hop behind me quickly, then realise that I'm stuck and can't actually do anything...

I'll omit the gory details, but I will say that I have never seen two tauren have that much fun without actually exploding with mirth. We won the BG about a minute after this happened, and let me tell you, that was the longest minute of my life.

As for my poor little gnome mage, the therapy's been helping. He can almost say "Blink" again without bursting into tears.

Ok, running BRD with guildies and I'm tired. 6 hour drive home after a 12 hour work day. We get in all goes well and I miskey water for CS while having XXXXX mob targeted while we were all down on HP. We wipe, no big. Everyone messes up everyonce in a while right? ehehehehe.

Next I aggro bar (totally on accident) we wipe. Take bar one at a freaking time and carry on.

I go a quick afk bio and am running to catch up. Forget where I am and hop down right by my guildies but hit blink right when I land (On accident) into spirit room. Main tank tells me he is ready so I don't even look and start the boss sequence. Guess he was talking about someone else cuz here I am in the room...solo. If I don't win no chest right? Yeah well make it to the LAST ONE and die. Waste of a g-damn run. All my fault.

Get back and everyone is p'ed at me big time but they understand. Bad day and all...soooo I go to port everyone to IF and end up only porting me. Heh. What a day.

This one time in Booty Bay, I was on top of that ship protruding from the wall of the inn right by the big log that sticks out of the front, I jump off and hit blink and it teleports me back up onto the log. Well, onto isn't the best choice of words, into would probably be better. Basically, I looked like I got skewered by a big stick.

I couldn't get out but I thought the guards bullets would dislodge me so I shoot at some Alliance and kill him, the guard moves as if to shoot at me, has me targeted but keeps sitting there like he couldn't. Maybe it was some LoS glitch, but I killed sooo many Alliance before I got bored and hearthed.

I was in AV last night and met a lock behind the northern bunker by the bridge (I'm horde..). Well, I previously killed this guy (because I got the drop on him and hit him with a 4K pyroblast + 1.6K ignite, Fireblast, Dragon's breath, fireball). It was fun. Well, he must have soulstoned, or rezzed almost immediately. I was behind the northern bunker picking off the archers and *pow* deathcoil. Well, you know how you run like a crazy idiot, I ran over by the ledge, then, thinking I'd be tricky, I used my trinket, ran towards the gulley and was going to jump down and blink at the bottom. Thing is, I fell through the map. Evidently there is some kind of wierd hole in the map back there and I must have fallen for a whole minute before I got the 'fatigued' message and finally died a minute after that.

Wonder what that lock thought?

I doubt this should go on the mage board, but it was still a near-death experience.

Completing the Netherwing dailies as I always do, right near the portal fighting the Deathshadow Agents on the West side of Nagrand. I am ticking away at one of the mobs w/ my druid and didn't realize that several elites had walked fairly close. I forget his name, but he is the 73 elite red demon out there jumped on to my rear and popped me for 4.3k (in cat form). My mind races for a split second on what to do besides run. I finally just hit sprint and ran my kitty butt out to the edge of the world hoping I could loose him.

I was on the very edge of the world, staring out into the twisting nether and the gigantic red demon is inching closer and closer. I hadn't died yet doing this daily quest, so a rash idea came to mind. I lept off the edge of the world, only seconds b4 the killing blow was going to land.

Already at 30% hp, I keep falling. 25 meters down, 50 meters, I release cat form and start clicking the bird form icon as if my life depended on it (cause it did). At about 75 meters down, I leave combat, enter swift flight form, and sail off safely.

I wished at the time that I had a mapping program to capture that move, and especially the timing of it. A few seconds longer and I would have fallen to my death. I still haven't died on that ledge or below it.

I just thought this story gave a little revelance as a tale of survival at least.

Very Kewl Bultrix, makes me wish Mages had a flight form, or Spell! About the closest thing I had to that was...

So There I Was... in the Caverns of Time ( I believe that's what they are called in Tanaris) and before you go down any of the major tunnels for different quests, you walk between two "windows" that look into space or eternity or whatever. Well I accidently "Blink"ed into the one on the right (as you are goin in) and started falling, and naturally and with no real logic, I did what every mage does, I feather falled, and feather falled, and feather falled- 4 times if I remember right. It was very cool, the map showed me crossing most of Tanaris almost back up to Gadgetzan. I had to have fell for over 2 minutes, all the time seeing planets and stars and stuff. Lots of fun. So, of course, I tried to duplicate it. And I found out you CAN! It is kinda hard but you can do it with and without Blink. And you fall for a very, very long time, then die. :( Too bad Blizzard just doesn't let you "out" where your little dot on the map says you are when you are done :)
