Seriously, for 1 point, it's incredible. You'd be crazy not to get it.
Or let me put it this way... the DPS gain is an extra swing every 10 seconds. So, take the average damage of your current weapon(s), divide by 10, and that is your DPS gain. For me at lvl 47, that equates to about 24-26 DPS. Not to mention the 2 subsequent boosts in nature damage. That means 1 Earth Shock for 20% more damage, and 1 lightning shield ball at 20% more damage.
Note also that it doesn't interrupt (that I'm aware of) your current swing timer. So if you run up to a mob and SS, you basically swing instantly twice, Earth Shock and Lighting Ball, and the mob should be at about half health. If you're dual wielding, you will probably have proccd WindFury and/or a crit, so you theres a good chance of gaining Flurry and Unleashed Rage.
For even better results, I suggest downloading WF3Sec mod to show you your hidden WindFury timer right next to a StormStrike timer so that you can avoid punching your Stormstrike while your WindFury is still cooling down.
I guarantee you WILL be kicking yourself once you get SS for not taking the talent sooner.

Every time it's up. Get it, use it, love it.
Every single engagement, normally followed by Earth Shock or Lightning Shield.
For 80 mana you get an instant attack with a chance to normal crit, WF, FT or FB crit etc. Totally awesome in PvE when combined with dual wield.
Bread & butter spell for Enhancement Shamans.

when I was enhancement every time the cooldown was up.
it didn't seem that great reading it, but then I put a point into it, and wow. Amazing. though it seemed greatests in the 40's. I was killing mobs in a few seonds then. But things slowed down for me in the 50's. I respecc'd elemental at 61, but that's not for this thread.

Use it every time I possibly can, except when there's a bad tank and I need to watch my threat :P
Man, bgredsox you should have been hammering stormstrike when u hit lvl 41 or whatever it is you would be lvl 70 by now. Its the best talent in the tree bro, the signature move of enhance- it can proc windfury, it gives u a free attack with both weapons or ur one big slow one, i mean its one of the best talents maybe in the game. I can't imagine how you leveled enhance to 59 without. I almsot didn't believe this post when i read it I thoguht you were kidding. good luck with your newly double powered shammy lol

Stormstrike is Enhancement.
I use it every time it's up.
Just to reiterate what Elecktrofreak said, do NOT use SS immediately when the CD is up unless WF is off it's 3sec CD. Either use a mod like the one he linked, or just get used to timing the CD off of the WF animation (I use WFtally which conveniently starts to fade out the WF total at 3 seconds). Using it while WF is on cooldown is a HUGE waste of an opportunity to proc WF.
Also, as Elecktrofreak stated, SS doesn't reset the swing timer.

Not taking storm strike is like a assasination rogue not taking muty. Hell it even reminds me of muti. But without the positioning and poisons

I just had an Enh guildie ask me the other night if SS was worth it... so you're not alone. It really is one of those talents you have to experience before you fully understand just how useful it is.
OMG stormstrike i would not have a shaman without it in my duels thats the first thing i use on em when i get close and it usually takes a quarter up to half of their life away
