Tanking KaraFollow

#1 Sep 25 2007 at 7:22 AM Rating: Decent
Well I thought I'd throw this out there and see what you guys thought. This is my current tank gear setup http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ravencrest&n=Aigesfang and I wanted to know if it is good enough to tank Kara or should I work on a few things...IE enchants or items. Of course after this patch gets done it might all be for naught but hey what else am I gonna do for now...Peace

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=30225 would be a lot better than your current bracers.

your shoulders def. need to be a bit better, shoulders of the bold would be great.

pick up a bold chest piece or the jade skull breastplate, or the aldor one.

definitely better rings and esp. trinkets. the adamantite figurine and... that other one that has a very close defense bonus and adds the shield block rating(forget the name ><).

as far as enchants - helm enchant from COT (the legs from there may be a bit better than what you currently have too)

+150 hp on chest (pretty cheap)

stam on bracers

agi on weapon (mongoose ideally, but it's not worth spending the money on it for what you have now)

basically to tank all of kara you want to be 12000 hp unbuffed and 490 def.

don't socket for bonuses unless they are actually worth it

crit/ap/strength bonuses are NOT worth it for tanking, don't go for them, just stack full stamina gems.

as far as tanking kara now you can probably do the first tower

edit: I'd like to see more avoidance than what you have right now though [dodge/parry(/block)]

there's some nice boots from the mana tombs escort quest: Flesh Beast's Metal Greaves

also try and pick up Grom'tor's Charge

As soon as you hit 490 defense and +/- 12k hp you should be allright

As far as your spec, might i suggest dropping imp demo shout in favour of imp sunder and imp bloodrage. Drop Focused Rage and imp Shield wall to max out vitality, one handed weapon spec and shield mastery (you might need to sacrifice a point in cruelty for that)

You don't need to worry about socket bonuses that aren't sta, def, dodge, etc... if it's str, crit and all that, just socket something you need instead. Str isn't needed, but shouldn't be ignored either. I definetly wouldn't socket a str gem in tanking gear when I could put a 12 sta in that spot.

All those little bonuses, 3 parry, 3 crit, etc... are not worth it in the long run. If your short on defense, put the defense gems in sockets, if your short on sta put sat gems in your sockets.

Sta > Def gems.

In your shoulders, put 9/12 sta gems in.

I'm just basically reiterating russki's post, but I think he's right.

Something else to consider, 12k hp and 490 defense min, but also try and get 30+% dodge+parry. Since your doing kara, get the trinket off moroes. That should be ... easier... than some other options. Also the neck drop from maiden is a nice thing to have.
