I have noticed something very strange...with my arcane shot i have 35% of crit and with steady shot only 15%. My crit is 22%.
How this happen?why i crit most of the time with arcane and with steady shot is so rare?

Are you using Titans Crit Line add on or something? Where is shows your highest damage per ability, and it also shows your crit percentage for each ability?

If so then your arcane shot crit% could be high depending on how often you use it. The more you use it the closer the crit % gets to your actual crit %. So if you are running an instance and are using steady shot in your constant rotation, lets say you fire it off 100 times, and 20 of those shots crit, obviously thats 20% crit rating.

Now you throw in an arcane once in a while for kicks. So in that same instance run you fired 30 Arcane shots, and got lucky with a string of crits and had 9 crits. That's a 30% crit rating for Arcane Shot.

At first glance it would seem that Arcane would be better. But as you fire more and more shots, chances are more likely that the crit rating of that ability will drop and keep getting closer and closer to whatever your actual crit rating is.

i did some practise in mobs..i shoot 30 arcane first and then 30 steady shots..and i noticed this difference..dunno maybe a statistic mistake, maybe just luck..but the gap was huge

I tested this on 30 (x2) Mobs at Level 69-71 (Nagrand Elements)and found that my arcane shot almost never crits, 9.82% but the steady crits at about 18.55% which is what my crit is (well 17.82 approx)

Obviously this will become more clear and acurate as you do more shots, but i think its boils down to luck at the end of the day...

My highest crit% is Multishot, even against single target. That is my consistently nastiest attack, aimed shot is what is all over the place. When it hits big, it hits big, when it doesn't, it's a total waste of time. Aimed needs a higher crit% IMO. Steady is regular on the crits but about the same as aimed. Arcane is also in that area but I really don't use it for crits, it's my finisher and a crit is usually MORE than over the top to kill a target.

Yeah Multishot seems to be my high crit maker too. But it is a beautiful thing seeing all 3 hits crit at once 3 big numbers pop up on my screen makes me go wooooo.

That about nails it on the head, I think. In statistics there is a very, very commonly used representation called a "normal" curve, and it has been mathematically proven that given a large enough sample population, any relevant statistical information will fall into that normal curve. Where things go wonky is when there isn't a large enough sample. 30 of each shot is a good effort, but generally speaking you'd want to do at least 100 of each since you're doing a percentage score. 1000 would be even better, but investing that amount of time to prove something that could just as easily be done by spending 2 minutes composing an e-mail to Blizzard would be a bit much, I think.

for those that say Multishot crits most for them, thats rather logical if you are MM with Barrage+imp. Barrage.
+12% crit and +12% damage do quite a lot for multishots.
(its the one thing about MM i really like, seeing 3 2k+ crits next to eachother.)

Actually, I was AOE grinding in Uldaman the other day. Kind of fun dropping an explosive trap, running about, getting all the mobs riled up, running them back to the trap, stopping and dropping a volley on top of myself then dropping another explosive trap. Killed everything quite nicely and nearly no damage to me. Love it... AOE hunter! LOL! I use the heck outta barrage & imp. barrage.
