After reading the horror stories of how stingy Murmur is, an dhearing my guildmates ***** constantly about run #24 without a drop, I was scared. Really scared.

Did my first Shadowlab run this morning to get my Kara key quest part of the chain.

Dropped for me. First kill, Smiley: drunk for everyone!

So... full.... of.... hate....
Exalted with Lower City now. And my Hunter has never entered another Auchindon instance than Shadow Labs. Done a couple of the Caravan quests, and I guess I got some rep there. But other than that, Shadow Labyrinth. By now, I know it inside out. I can play that instance blindfolded. I have torn through those mobs and bosses so many times I am on a first name basis with every last one of them. And Murmur? He refuses to drop my damned Spear. I'll probably have Legacy any week now, depending on Opera events. Still... Murmur and I have issues to work out.

I could be decked out in full T6. My Melee weapon could be the equivalent of ten Sonic Spears. And I would still hit Shadow Labyrinth. I owe Murmur so much hurt, that once I'm 80, I'll be running that instance purely to cause him pain. Until he drops my Spear, I will hunt him relentlessly and without mercy.

Hmm... slightly off topic here, but I think I'll check with my guild if anyone else actually needs that Spiteblade anymore. I know Legacy is better than Dualwielding Spiteblade, but if no one else wants it, I think I'll get it. Twice. Slap on Agi enchants, and they might actually look good on my Hunter. Getting tired of Twohanding anyway. And it's not like I'm gimping myself exactly... When Sonic Spear... hell, when Crystalforged War Axe is acceptable gear for Gruul runs, dualwielding Spiteblades ought to be more than enough statwise for Magtheridon and most of the rest, until we hit better Hunter weapons. And I will still be the next in line for Legacy, as raidgear goes.

Hmm... I think I'll have to get those, and post some screenies of one of the few Dualwielding Hunters in TBC.

Yep, I was terrified as well.

I got SS my first run, as well... and I wasn't even 70 (some guldies ran me through at 69)!

Unfortunately, I've had to replace it with the "Gay Disco Axe." I really don't like the look of Legacy, but at least it gets the job done :)

I lucked out. Replaced a guild mate doing the SL run. We got Murmur and my guild mates let me have the Sonic Spear drop. The other Hunter did not want it and no one else could use it. Very nice indeed.

Got it on my first try too.

In fact, I've seen it drop 6 out of 8 kills.

But don't hate me. I can't get ANYTHING else to drop. Ever. Gear drop rates are odd, and a little ridiculous if you ask me.

I got it by default on 2nd ever run to SL, oh and it is in bank because my Crystalforged War Axe is better for BM and was 20gold in AH /rolls eyes.

Crystalforged waraxe is NOT better then Sonic spear, Never, no way, besides PvP then.

Waraxe: --- Spear:
500 hp ---- 300 hp
80 ap ----- 97 AP
1.3% crit - 0.88% crit
0% hit ---- 1.5% hit
trading 200hp and 0.4% crit for 17 AP and 1.5% hit is a very good deal imo.
+hit is pretty important and it isnt to common on lvl 70 blues and getting 5%+hit before starting karazhan is recommended, higher is better up to 8.6% +hit.

And if i'm not mistaken, Azuarc stated on TKAsomething that +hit is the largets increase in damage a hunter can get until you are hitcapped (5% on equal level mobs, +1.2% for each level above up to 8.6% for a raidboss/lvl 73)

Heh, the sonic spear has dropped 3 times for my warrior. We sharded it each time. *ducks and runs away from the angry mob.*

Soon my hunter will be 70, and then it will no doubt never drop again.

To all who got it on their 1st run......L2Play!

As all real hunter's know it is a trial by fire to have to run SL at least a dozen times for the spear. I suggest you DE or delete it and do NOT accept it as a drop until you have suffered like the rest of us.

(lol, jk gratz you lucky bastages!!) Smiley: grin

ya'll can have the spear. get revered with thrall or whatever the alliance version is, honor hold? you need to do that anyway for the heroics and once you do, the polearm is a 100% drop from the vendor :D

I got my spear... I don't remember. After 4-5 runs?

But I'm exalted with Lower City anyway, and then some, so I know I've done a lot of runs of it anyway.

Okay.

This is a screenshot of us killing Shade of Akama. To the right of him is a bat. To the left of the bat is our hunter class leader. Zoom in. See that little glowy black thing sticking up from his shoulders?

That's the Blackened Spear (rep reward), since after running Shadowlabs (and Heroic Shadow Labs) for well over 60-70 times he never saw the spear. Not once.

I speak for him and all Hunters who had bad drop with lucks on Murmer when I say: Damn you.

Yes you could buy the Hellforged Halberd....but it looks dam weak!

I had it and it looks like any other polearm pre-TBC with fiery on it....yuck!

While I totally realize this is a cosmetic issue, it is one I will not compromise on. I work hard to keep my Hunter looking good in gear that boosts his performance.

I don't care if I'm flinging turds out of a slingshot, if I'm doin more dps that way then duck or get splattered!

everything in wow is so over the top that I kinda quit caring about how my characters look.

Best post in this thread so far. Almost wet myself thinking of my own Hunter flinging turds. I don't agree though. When the Stats difference isn't all that much, I can forgo the retarded look, if I can have the damn nice look. And all in all, Hunters haven't really been hit so bad by that "over the top EPIC" stuff. Granted, you will never see me in Tier 5 or anything that looks like it. I'd sooner raid in full Beaststalker. But the Tier 4, Karazhan epics, and a certain way into SSC doesn't look so over the top.

My Hunter still actually looks like a Hunter.

I would really like the way my hunter looked but for that big silly Legacy hangin off my back.

most of my visual pieces are t4 or pieces like the gloves that match well enough. I did recently go back to the pvp shoulders which is what I was thinkin of with the "over the top" thing.

I had Hellforged Halberd sitting on my back for 3 months, was glad when I was able to change the look for Legacy, but then... now I am not so sure I like having a Disco Ball attached to my back...

I think that dual weild looks 20x better than a BIG FAT axe hangin off our backs, however Blizzard has Made hunters almost HAVE TO use a big slow 2h weapon. After all, what do we Melee? Run in, raptor Strike + Wing Clip... run away and shoot the guy / Mob to death... I'll be trying for dual weild if I can though for the looks + stats if I can find something.

Wonder if Dual merciless daggers / swords / axes would work good...

**Runs to wowhead.com to check merciless 1h stats**

I know I've said it before, but I'm personally aiming for dual Spiteblades just for the hell of it. Crossed over my back, with Agi enchants. In melee, a whirling dance of death. It will look bloody awesome.

ok so STATS for hunters who are AGAINST BIG FAT 2H WEAPONS

Dual weild Merciless weapons gives a total of:

+54 stamina
+20 Hit rating
+38 Crit rating
+24 Resiliance rating
+60 Attack Power

Seems decent compared to Sonic Spear etc etc of big fat 2h weapons :)
