Question about Sprirt TapFollow

#1 Sep 22 2007 at 10:05 AM Rating: Default
Here's the deal: I just learned spirit tap and don't see it in my spellbook anywhere. I was wondering if this was a passive spell or how it actually works.

it procs/has a chance to proc when you do the last hit on any mob that can give you either honor or experience. (irregardless if you do actually get honor or experience.) it's not a castable spell.

ok...Now...What exactly does proc mean? And does it have to be a physical attack, or can it be a spell or wand?

proc means activates. some short form terminology that came out with elf quest and continued on with wow. last hit is personal terminology where you do the last bit of damage to kill the mob. can be a physical attack, spell damage from a dot (damage over time) or similar.

Proc is short for "Programmed Random Occurance," so Spirit Tap doesnt so much as proc "being random" but activates each time you get the killing blow on something that yeilds exp. or honor.

It doesn't activate every time unless you put the full 5 points into it. Until then it's a 20% chance per point invested.

Thanks for all the help y'all. After some research it seems this should have been one of the first talents to have gotten. Think I might go ahead and respec and max it out. Think I might change to Holy while I'm at it. I was going Shadow due to some things I heard, but I really enjoy healing, and while fast leveling IS tempting, I think I'll have more fun as a dedicated healer.

Just wait until you get to the higher lvls...40+...healing spec will take you FOREVER to lvl just to let you know...even on my fire spec mage (lots of dps)...it prolly took me about 8-10 hours of killing mobs to get from lvl 59-60. And on my priest, I was gonna do the same thing but ended up respeccing back to shadow around lvl 40 or so until he got to lvl 66 (because it became nearly impossible to heal instances as shadow) where I again respecced to healing and have stayed that way ever since.

I have no problems healing with my shadow priest. I keep a set of healing gear and shadow gear and just switch between the two based on what my role in the group is.
