Demo Shout vs. Curse of Weakness?Follow

#1 Sep 20 2007 at 2:18 PM Rating: Decent
So one of the main tanks said that Imp Demo shout is worthless at End Game because the Warlock has Curse of Weakness and they don't stack. Should a MT still spec into Imp Demo Shout at all if this is the case? What do you think?

I would say 2 points into it wouldn't hurt. I would think warlocks should be putting Curse of Doom (maybe Curse of Agony if affliction) to do some DPS rather than taking up that curse slot with a debuff easily applied by a warrior.

Better yet, have one of your dps warriors put some points into demo shout so neither you or the warlocks have to worry about it.
If thats not possible, I still think having you using demo shout > warlock using curse of weakness, since any one warlock can only have one curse up at a time.

Warlocks should in no case be wasting a Curse (significant increase to raid damage) for something that Warriors can easily pick up and costs us (nearly) nothing to maintain. They don't stack, but it's incredibly trivial to pick up.

Those were my thoughts as well. I will argue this point with our MT and see what kind of feedback I get. Thanks guys.

With that said, in a raiding environment if you have DPS Warriors along at all times you can make them spec/apply Imp. Demo. The alternative places to drop the points are... bad, so it's an extremely minor loss.

I'm not the greatest dpser but I am the only DPS tank in the guild ATM and I put at least 2 points into Imp DS.

imp demo shout is useful in conjunction with curse of recklessness.

bosses have 350ap; for mobs, 2ap = 1dps

2/5 imp demo is a -348ap debuff, thus reducing mobs' ap to near-zero.

curse of recklessness is a slight ap buff to the mob, plus an -800 armor debuff (which does stack with sunder.)

5/5 imp demo is enough to reduce a mob with curse of recklessness to 0ap.

gruul is pretty much the first fight where 5/5 imp demo + curse of recklessness can come in really handy, especially in the first couple kills.

With 3 locks you'd want curse of recklessness, curse of shadow and curse of elements in no particular order. Your 4th, 5th locks (if applicable) can be doing on the order of 12-14k damage per minute using doom after that, its really a tanks job to keep up demo shout, curse of weakness is a pile of crap ability that we have.
