Ok I've spent a few hours reading all the guides in the stickies - very much appreciated and very helpful - thank you. As a professional noob at WoW, I'd like some insight if I'm headed in a decent direction. Plan is to stick with daggers until lower 60's, I think.

Thank you in advance.

You're on the right track. You should know that you'd level faster and more easily with combat swords, but if you enjoy assassination, then stick with it.

I'd start looking for gear upgrades when you get to 58; you should be able to find some really nice "of the Bandit" greens on the AH.

I'm one of very few who enjoy the subtley spec more than anything. I'm not much on instances, groups, etc; I've got that loner *****, and spend most of my time in stealth anyways.

This is not the 'optimal grind set' spec, but after tooling around and straight up burning gold changing specs back and forth, for me it's daggers (and this fist weapon I found!) and lots of sneakin' around.

K bump yourself up a lvl for starters then do some quests in hellfire. You need a lot more stamina. Pretty much do all the quests in Hellfire. They are designed to gear you up for Outlands. Your build has potential, but if you are a "noob" as you say you are you might want to stick with swords till ya hit 70. Your adventures up till 70 will teach you ALOT about your rogue and how you want to play it. right now I got **** for gear but I get by. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Moon+Guard&n=Kanasta

More importantly, Deflection as a dagger rogue.

If anyone ever specs Riposte with a dagger, Wayne Brady's going to have to kill a *****.

To the OP, I would reccomend spending some time in AV when you are about to hit 60. Save up and get the Grand Marshal's Dirk, great dagger, it easily lasted me the whole way to 70.

Only "had" 5 points in deflection to get further down the tree. I know its a worthless talent for me. thats why I dont have a point in riposte. all specs have since changed anyhow. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Moon+Guard&n=Kanasta so I thank you all on dissing my char while not realizing why it was the way it was even though this doesnt really matter to me. Kinda demoralizing but I dont know any of you. ah well later
