well ok i was in WSG grinding marks for rune of perfection, i was at top of kills, hk, and healing done. And a lvl 40 warlocks starts flaming me for being a shaman, saying things like "ur just an rtard shammy and ur so easy to kill", eventually ppl in the raid group started agreeing with him... adding things like "i pown shammy fo breakfest" courtasy of a ****** pally. A mage added "The ele sham think they can be casters but its so lame they cant DPS for ***"
are these either A. overall opinions of shammys from non-shammys B. Ignorent ppl that have never played one or fought a good one or C. um... noobs?

SHAMAN FTW =)

My elem shaman is always 3rd on the DPS charts behind our two pve spec rogues in kara. I kill the mages on the charts and the only other class that comes close so far is when our warlock gets the damage buff from netherspite but that's just cheating. Anyone who thinks that shamans are crap has never played with a good one, or even a decent one for that matter.

Eh... I love Ele Shamans and I got one myself, but those must be some very poorly geared warlocks, mages, shadow priests, hunters, etc. So poorly geared I would'nt know how they even got keyed for Kara.

Still shamans are my favorites classes to have in raids. While we can put out the damage quite well we are mainly support. Those guys in your raid group were truly ignorant saying shamans suck. Espicially the mage since I own them all day and night.

So my answer would be B. Either they never fought one/played one or grouped with a skilled one. Shamans (Espicially Ele Shamans) kick *** in arena.

Elemental shammies are crazy in raids. They don't top the damage meters (though I regularly find our shammy placing top 5 or close to - admittedly our mages are slackers), they do regularly top in terms of pure DPS. He's sitting at over 1500 paper dps, and gets really close to 1000 in actually; the only person who outdoes that is out BM hunter (~1600 paper dps, 900+ actual). Throw in a shadow priest for the mana to do chain lightning and flame shock... O.o
Plus me, the doomkin, and the mage(s) in the group really like the extra 3% hit, crit, 30mp5, and 121 damage :D

Your elemental Shaman took Totem of Wrath? Christ. I wouldn't even take that in a pure raiding spec.

What the HELL are you smoking then? Do you know how much that adds to a group? Shammies who are elemental who don't have ToW don't get invites. Period. It's like a shadow priest who didn't take Shadow Weaving, or a balance druid that left out Moonkin.
EDIT: Alrighty, let me put this in a bit of perspective. Totem of Wrath alone boosts my guild's best mages' paper DPS by ~70, second-best by ~50, the doomkin by ~60, the elemental shammy by ~50 (and mine my a negligible amount). Yes, I would CERTAINLY take an instant spell every 3 minutes over a net gain of 230dps (138000 damage over 10 minutes).

they were n00bs - and this is coming from a non-shaman. Though some ele shamans are very easy to kill, both when I play mage and druid. My toughest fight as a druid ever was actually against a ele shaman. Shamans are definatly a force to be reckond with when played correctly, when not; they are a joke.

In my personal unpleasant experience, elemental Shamans don't do well in one-on-one pvp settings, and of course not well at all when getting ganked by several at one time (which has happened to me a couple of times). But just to echo others here, I'm usually second and sometimes first even in spell dps in 5-mans; and in group pvp settings, forget it.

So they could be anyone of those three, IMO, but most likely they were just e-peening, a favorite WOW pasttime of the more dumbass players.

Shamans hold their own very well. But what people love them for is that they boost the entire group. So ya maybe they dont top the dps charts. But those group's dps charts are actually WAY HIGHER, because they have a shaman with them.

Shamans are one of the best classes for all aspects of wipe managing. Pevention, halting and recovery.

My worst memory ever was a shaman in WSG. Me and my group had just managed to slaughter the hords offensive as we were heading to their flag [they gave us no choice in the matter] and we were in a bad state but not that bad enough that we had to retreat or wouldnt be able to take the flag.

He cast a chain lightning or something and it hit us for a load of damage twice.

We all died...i could just imagine how wild he went when he saw that

that sounds like something I do :D

last week we got thru SSC with no wipes so my second flask was still sitting and we decided to get a few premade WSG's going, and our defense team consisted of our full merc warrior with bl00dmoon and me with my raid buffed 1057 nature dmg LAWL, so I had just ran out to escort our fcarrier inside and had grabbed the berserking buff on my way back and arrived in our flag room just as some random blue geared warrior picked up our flag and trashed some random pug mage that was there after he popped RECKLESSNESS :D

I had dropped my wrath of air as I ran over and I dropped a trinketed elemental mastery chain lit on him for a 4800 crit, which then overloaded and he got 1 shot

I was like KEKEKEKKEEK

and the guild warrior who was in the middle of charging the war just burst out laughing over vent, and everyone was like wtf?

and so we explained how some nub got one shot :D

Edit: wtf you can't say bl00d?

I got killed by an elemental shaman in a matter of a second or two just recently while I was on my Rogue. I had just finished a battle and my health was still high. I was just standing there and got blind sided and triple critted by his chain lightning, lightning bolt and his earth shock.

You have died.

In closing though, if I get the jump on them they usually don't get away alive.

Still I can't wait to finish my last 6 long levels and respec elemental and hit the BG's.

Shaman hate is the same thing as hunter hate -

We all have done it, blamed the whole class because one person made you look bad, killed you, or worse yet, wiped a party.

Dont take it so seriously, The problem of why they started picking on you is more of a psychological one, not a problem with the class.

They were acting childish in nature and if one decides to jump off of a bridge then they all follow.

The classes are in theory all equal, and BG's are set up where if your a low level/bad gear, you can go in and compete to a moderate extent no matter of your class. Of course better gear/higher levels make it much easier.

In simple shamans are a fun class to play, and they have totem envy! :) Just kidding of course!
