Need a Sticky about Gear Questions!Follow

OK- I don't post much, but I have been here quite a bit to get info-

My question is-

What is the best gear set (Level 70 epic) for a mage wanting +Int, +Spell Crit chance, and/or +Frost DMG.

There really should be a should be a Sticky on what gear should go with what style of mage playing.

Gear sticky's SHOULD exist for all classes/playing styles. I bet some very intelligent person with time on their hands and skills/experience in creating useful Stickys could come up with a few, eh Filterspawn??

And yes, when the newest expansion comes out- my question would be (Level 80 epic)!

Thanks for the upcoming input y'all.

Frozen Shadoweave is the best for a frost mage. ;-) Up to Tier 5.

The best gear for a frost mage (as so eloquently stated by ktangent) is Frozen Shadoweave. Once you get to T5 (and a two-piece bonus) most people switch to arcane spec to do more dps.

I personally think it's a lot of time and effort for something people really should learn to research themselves. The tools are out there, everywhere. Perhaps having a sticky that tells you how to compare gear would be nice, but to actually just go out and say "Hey, get this gear." Just seems like it would be counterproductive.

Thanks for the Input folks- I appreciate it. And I do understand where you are coming from "The One and Only", and normally I would agree. But this in this cool, modern world we can hope (and in most cases pay for) convenience. Especially convenience for the masses. Besides stickys are a great baseline, if that is all ya want, then you answers are there, but if it gives you the basic ideas, and you want to look more indepth, well you have a good starting point :)

Now I'm gonna go look up Frozen Shadowweave!

Thanks again all.

I hope you don't mind me borrowing your thread but I just so happened to come for gear help as well. I know the basics, but sometimes I get stuck.

I just got Gloves of the Aldor last night, my guild suggests breaking my spellfire set for it but I dont think the trade off is worth it (and partialy cause I just got the set ;p). Especialy since I'm working on spellstrike.

Also though, when it comes to spellstrike, should I trade out those pants i have for it? Or sould I just get +hit gems instead of +stam?

Keep the spellfire set bonus. For the love of god.

+hit gems >>>>> +sta gems for PvE. Spellstrike is awesome, probably worth switching out for. If you do keep the old pants, consider Veiled Noble Topazes as well, a nice mix of damage and +hit.

I only use the T4 helm+pants when I need a bit more HP/mana for a boss fight, other than that I stick with spellstrike.

Quoted as being the exact reason I haven't done one. I used to have a gear stickie, it got outdated so fast it was pointless.

Alternatively, just all Kara non-set drops for every slot but shoulder. The shoulders from Kara kinda suck. If you add in the T4 shoulders, you might as well grab the T4 helm so you can use a meta gem. And then you'll have the 2pc set bonus, which isn't horrible when you're gonna take occasional AoEs regardless of positioning.

Mages should spec tailoring pre TK to get the *awesome* epics available to them. I resisted for a long time, but the benefits are *huge*. Also, if you want to look up gear for mages, go to wowhead or wowwiki and look it up. Gear changes so often/with patches and such that is would be hopelessly out of date constantly.
