My cat is named Cattlebat... both because my hunter is a Tauren and the dyslexic spelling of Battlecat. And I hate him, so I didn't put too much thought into it.
My boar that I've had since I was level 10 and he was level 3 is named Rupert.

I saw a hunter with a cat named Kat. I asked him about the name and he said he figured that Cat should really be spelled Kat and so he was protesting the English language.

Although many of the "funny" names aren't actually funny, I'd rather see them try than see all the pompous RP type names that come from crappy fantasy novels.
Oooh, I like 'HamSandwich'. I've been leveling up a boar and am still agonizing over its name.
Named my black panther 'Vanguard'. I get asked "What's it mean?", more times then i'd like to have to explain. In that aspect, he's my tuning fork for retards I shouldn't be grouping with.
My first pet was a boar and I named him Churchkey because his tusks reminded me of those portable bottle/can openers that so come in handy
I then tamed a windserpent and named him Zoso because he looked like Jimy Page's symbol from Led Zepplin.
I tamed Bagthera and named him a variant of that spelling. Unoriginal, I know. I wasn't happy with the name, and learned I didn't really like cats as pets. No real reason, just didn't appeal to me.
Next was a bear I named Beyer. He saved me from several potential headaches.
My ape was McGilla and my current pet is a bonestripper vulture named Marduk, the two-headed god of Babylon.
I've never had any comments about their names, but I do get a lot of 2-heads are better than one jokes about Marduk.
