I'm not a big fan of common names. Though I admit I named my first pet Kitty (it was a cat of course). After that I tried to come up with more original names. Not really original (as they were taken from other video games or expressions), but you get my drift.
I want to get a wolf and name him dogmeat. This is after a NPC dog you can get in your party in the classic RPG Fallout.
I had a bear named Dagoth, morrowind reference here.
some names I wish I could change because they are stupid. I named bangalash bangagong. Which is kinda stupid in retrospect. My purple ravagers is named purple people eater. But I had to shorten that quite a bit to get it to fit. I'm not sure if many people get the reference, but oh well.

I love funny names. I'll probably never level with my polar bear named Cola ever again, but I'll never get rid of him because I always get whispers when I have him out.

Not bad. Took a break from OoT for a while, and concentrated on the Classforums. Thought I'd see how long it took to get almost 1K posts without blatant spamthreads. Went back at 3k. Things don't change much over there, do they? Ah well, gotta admit I missed the humor and thick skin. It's amazing how butthurt some people get outside the OoT/Asylum walls.

Had guildie with a gorilla named Pooflinger. Had a gorilla myself and named it Itchybutt. Watch a gorilla sometime, count how many times it scratches its butt in a minute.
One of the coolest pet names I've come across is a cat named Pleasure. After hearing the hunter's voice on vent (she's a she) it seemed doubly appropriate.
