Question/s about 2v2 with a priest...Follow

Alright well recently my real life friend got level 70. He pretty much hardcored power-leveling, didn't really spend any time pvping or anything and he really lacks pvp/arena "sense" if you can call it that, aka when to use his fear and how to dot and keep a safe distance. I'm sure he will only improve as we continue to play, but I really can't see any way of us getting a very good arena rating like some of you guys/gals. Granted we don't have the greatest of gear as neither of us have been 70 for more than a couple months, and sometimes we can just flat outplay other teams. Also granted we are only around 1500 rating and the teams are not very good, which worries me even more.
We had a rough first week, like 9 games under .500 in which I nearly always found myself alone within 10-15 seconds of a fight due to his extremely low hp (around 6k lol). This week we did improve to 4 games over .500 i think, mainly because I am getting better and he is slightly, but I still find I'm putting up like around 15-25k damage to his 8k or lower. And pretty much if we fight a hunter he can't live more than 15 sec. although we won 2/3 yesterday with a hunter in the team. We have tried all different methods, but basically he fails to be able to heal and do damage. The stuff I know about rogues is what I read from you guys/gals and my constant pvping to improve my skills.
I was combat daggers spec for nearly all my WoW life, mainly for instances and such, and recently I have switched to combat mut build in hopes of harnishing the jist of the build and killing enemies much quicker. I know I need better gear, especially a trinket, cape and rings etc... couple I am hoping to get from pvping within a couple weeks. And with my first piece of arena gear, I was probably gonna get the off-hand dagger(gladiator's shanker I believe its called). Then go after the chest piece. I just really hate instancing, as in my entire instance career I have gotten 1 piece, yes 1, that I have actually needed, and that is the cape I have right now, which I am soon to rid of. Eventually I know I'll have to instance to improve some gear, but for now I just want to improve on arena.
So I guess the questions I would like answered, are can a priest/rogue arena team be any good with the right gear? or is it a pretty much inevitable failing? What would you guys suggest as a partner for arena? Druid? Warlock? And as for a trinket, where can I get a better one than my atp one... its just really pathetic and the one's I have seen are all instance dropped or rep required using instancing to get the rep? On a lighter note,as an idea, wouldn't putting say a 10k-15k minimum damage for Alterac Valley prevent less bot users and afkers? I had someone say well they can just bot to kill rams...but I responded with, uh don't think there are enough rams for 20-25 afkers to kill in AV, lol?
Oh ya and here's my armory thing, feel free to give constructive pointers and such, but please there is no need, for OMG YOU SUCK, GET BETTER GEAR NOOB! I know I'm not the best equipped, no need to point out the obvious. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kul+Tiras&n=Seeorbelieve

Holy/disc priests/shadow priests/resto druid/frost mage/lock. And yes, rogues do extremely well with priests by their side. Can't see your equips atm 'cause you're in mech farm clothes. I would respec to something similar, but like this:

Imp SnD, murder will increase your overall DPS. Imp. poisons will help you get 5 stacks of wound faster. Imp KS kinda sucks, but keep FF and QR.

I believe Bliz is putting in a safeguard (debuf) against afkers in the next patch, so let's hope that problem will soon be resolved.

There is a quest reward for Bladefists Breadth thottbot.com/i28041 in Honor Hold that is very easy to get. I'm sure there are others that are better, but that's the first that comes to mind, and you can get it by soloing the quest line (the last part may require you to bring your priest friend).

Your armory profile shows no gear on you, so I can't comment more precisely, but I will say that running battlegrounds can get you some nice armor/weps in preparation for Arena. I come from the school that PVP gear is best for ...well, PVP. So I don't think you need to spend a lot of time instancing for gear. IMO Stam and resiliance is king in PVP, and most instance drops lack what you need in that department.
