How To Make a Good UIFollow

I just had to buy myself a new, functioning hard drive for this computer that I'm posting from (and that I play a lot of my WoW on), and I think when it's done installing and patching and all that good stuff, in a week or so [], I'll give the UI a shot. I like what it looks like in the pictures so far, and I really don't feel like reinstalling and setting up my old UI.

okie doke Theo,

got home from work and fired up WoW. I tried to take an in-game screen but...apparently I can't anymore, so please excuse the crude pictures I took with my digital.

and

s27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/riskers/?action=view&current=DSC05399.jpg

My apologies again for the poor pictures but it was all I could think of. I've tried to resize, relocate and just plain figure out exactly what Theo has his things set up, but for the life of me cannot. I'd like to try and figure out Theo's addds but for the time being, I'm going to go back to my default UI and previous add-ons and, like Tyr, take small baby steps into the custom UI's.

Pretty much what should solve that is going into the bongos menu (/bob) and going to the profiles tab, clicking the "Rogue" profile, and hitting the "Set" button.

Is the edited/totally fixed version up yet? I really suck at these kind of things, and I don't wanna deal with the problemo's. Thanks for the UI pack, saved me lots of time.

Still trying hard to understand eepanels2 tutorial on how to make gradients, can't really do it without trying.

My UI actually already similiar, the only problem I'm having now is that, Pitbull still seem got bug on choosing profile, hence making me to force showing raid frames (where I have a holy pally do healing jobs).

It should be totally fixed. I deleted everything and installed the pack like I described in the readme and it works fine for me.

Eviel: I've never been able to choose profiles in Pitbull, hence why my priest and rogue are the same. It's sad, but unfortunately true.

First thx a lot Theo for the UI pack.
I had just about a ton of errors when i installed it --banzai was saying there are 2 different versions(1.0 and 1.1), cartographer was also giving some strange erorr, had some problems with pitbull too-- so i dnw the addons from the pack again and installed them separately>>>> it works.
I do have to say that those errors might have come from my (prolly numerous) mistakes while i was trying to set the ui.
The only addons i did not installed were banzai, ktm(since omen works just fine), and cartographer which REFUSES to work(might be some problem with my computer here since no1 posted any problem regarding these addons).
If anyone has that kind of problems please post it ...i'd like to know if i'm an idiot :)...
Other than that i managed to set a interface very similar to what Theo has posted and which works pretty well.
I'll post a bit later the exact addons i did used.

Thx again Theo for the UI pack and that eepanels tutorial.

@riskers...yes i had some error regarding those libs...

I am really liking the setup. I am a big fan of minimalistic UIs and low impact, and this is great.

I am going to have to take some time to redo the key bindings and some stuff, but this is a great addition to the boards. It was interesting to see some of the bindings that you used. I had never really thought of binding the finishers to alt/ctrl+mouse up/down. I guess since I usually play on a laptop, I try to avoid the necessity for mouse wheel and F keys.

Now I just need to figure out how to configure the extra stuff I will need for my shammy and druid.

Thanks for the feedback.

My brother has a 70 druid that he raids with and a 68 warrior that he's leveled in the past month or two, and I've been trying to get him to try my UI, but he's too easily pleased as far as UIs go; comes from FFXI, I think. Smiley: grin

Either way, after seeing how he's got his stuff set up, you should be able to set up either my consumable bar (the only bar shown) or another hidden bar to page when you change stances (forms). If you unlock the bars and right-click them, you'll get an option to enable paging. With bongos2, the paging in stances means how many bars it will move forward, not what bar it will switch to.

So for example, if you're using bar 2 to be your shape-shifting bar, and want it to switch to bar 4 for cat form, you would need to have "2" as the cat bar on the slider.

For shaman, having played one myself, I'd just use a whole lot of key bindings.

Apologies if I'm being thick, but with Pitbull, is there any way to view and arrange all the unit frames without actually having any party members, targets, etc?

Shift-click the PitBull icon.

Nugie Combo Bar.

The new version from wowinterface is awesome; it lets you custom-color your combo points.

Been there, done that. Got the ******* t-shirt. Smiley: grin

That's actually why I started making my own UIs. Started with Discord and moved on from there.

I miss Discord. Main reason is the control boxes where you could set up an actionbar to be switched on and off. I wish bongos could do that, but the only thing i've found it to be able to do is mouseover fades. meh.

well, this is an old SS. pre BC. But if you look at the bottom right there is text saying "Click to open non-combat abilites" which i had set up to open all my profs. On my pally i had one for buffs and profs, and on my rogue i would LIKE one for the daily quest usables.

Ah. Yeah, I don't think that functionality exists in any actionbar mod currently.

Got bongos2, got Xperl.

Xperl did what I wanted with moving my units frames around.

Decided against using elkano's buffbar... it looked great, but ultimatly, I felt like it took a lot more room then the standard blizzard UI buff/debuff counter and really didn't had much (Seeing a bar go down or a number go down is pretty much the same to me).

Xperl also keeps track of buff/debuff while taking a lot less room.

Don't get me wrong, Ebb is really cool looking... but I didn't feel it added much functionality.

Ugh, I'm sorry, but I just can't stand X-Perl.

I even used X-Perl for a bit a few weeks ago, and I just couldn't get over how little there was to customize on them. Smiley: frown

Heh, that's good as far as I'm concerned ;p.

Too much is just as bad as not enough imo.

Quick question, for the chat bars, how do I enable the option to SEE what I'm typing. It's rather frustrating to start typing and have no clue what I've typed.

I've been playing around with most of the mods you suggested, Theo, and so far I've been very pleased. However, the one thing that still irks me is that quest tracking text follows the minimap, but it's right justified to the right edge of the map, so when my minimap is on the left side of my screen, the text is often off the left edge.

Is there any way to move the quest tracking text around, or to change the justification to left justified?

You can always have bongos toggle a bar on and off.

/bongos toggle #

Make a macro with that and you're all set.
