When is it a good time to spec for Omen of clarity? I am at level 31 and i am wondering if it is a good plan to Respec. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Anvilmar&n=Katherria

OoC is AWESOME....

....but not as awesome as filling out the rest of the feral tree first. however, the plus side of getting OoC is that you'll grab furor and naturalist on the way, increasing your damage and utility by a significant amount.

personally, if i were to level up another druid today, i would stick my first 13 points into feral, for feral charge, feral swiftness, ferocity, brutal impact and feral instinct. after that, id get 5/5 furor, and then fill out the rest of the feral tree until i hit 50, where i would then respec to pick up mangle. after i grab mangle at 50, id fill out the rest tree to get furor, naturalist, and (at level 61) omen of clarity.

the reason behind this being that, to me anyway, the late feral talents are so strong and synergize so well that it trumps the contribution of omen of clarity at that level. as you get higher up, getting an OoC proc has a greater effect relative to when you were lower, especially given that, by that time, you'll likely have at least a 20% chance to crit in feral forms. on the flip side, when youre lower, your crit chance and your AP are all very low, thus meaning the relative contribution of an OoC proc is less. thus, it would behoove me to fill out feral first.

but as i said, there is benefit to getting OoC sooner rather than later. it really is a personal preference, as you cant deny the power of a free heal at the end of a battle, or the burst damage of an energy-free shred/FB combo.

IF i was to respec what would my talents look like? Im not very good on deciding myself......... I think i would be neat to try a feral/resto build till mangle..

this takes level 33, but you can take out 2 points where ever to make it match your current level:

after that, id fill out more feral than resto, unless you want to snag natural shapeshifter for some mana reduction, or natures focus to make pvp-healing and pve in general a bit less dicey.

Short answer: always do what Quor says.

My answer: I specced feral up to feral swiftness, switched to the resto tree up to OOC, then kept filling out feral. As soon as I hit 50 I'll respec for mangle, then fill in those 11 points for OOC again. I hearts OOC.

I agree with teacake. Usually there's a gap in the feral tree before getting Heart of the wild, where the talents are not "so good" and I think it's better to respec to feral/resto and get OoC at that point. Then go back to full feral and get Mangle asap.

I also agree with Quor. While leveling, there is a lot to consider other than just DPS. That is why feral swiftness is great - it speeds up your leveling more than any other single talent. It's a big world and a lot of your leveling time is spent running around.

Same with furor, it saves you time waiting for your energy to tick up.

I would go with Quor's build, then up the feral tree until I hit 50, at which point, pay for a respec and go all feral to get mangle. Then work back up to OOC.

I'm currently leveling one of each toon to 70. (70,70,55,42,28,23,18,12 so far). But i'm really keen to level another druid sometime because I know it so well and want to see how fast I can do it :)

Just a quick question. Why feral instinct over thick hide?

at the lower levels (below 60ish) you need a more effective stealth for soloing than you need the armor boost, mostly since your soloing will be done in cat form (granted your feral). also keep in mind that you'll grab thick hide later for the higher up instances when you actually need it to tank.

on the talent question: IMHO, always do what quor suggests.

OK, OK. All hail Quor! After all, he is a Sage. Whatever that means?
Although i was mainly thinking of solo play when i made that comment.

most feral druids solo in cat form due to faster killing. this being said, cat form is not armor dependent whereas bear form is.

scenario: stealth up to a mob, kill it. 3 others spawn, what do you do? bear form FTW

yes you need armor in bear form for tanking multi mobs or being the MT of an instance, but the armor contribution is not phenomenal (or necessary) until you reach the higher instances.

the bonus of having stealth when soloing? think of all of those quests where it's "kill x mob, and bring me y" where "x" is some randomly named mob in the back of a cave full of trash mobs (if you haven't seen a dozen of these yet, just wait). you could:

A. spend the time to solo each mob in cat form, adding time and repair costs
B. agro 4 mobs at a time in bear form, chance dieing and adding repair costs
C. stealth to the back of the cave, kill the mob, stealth out

sure A and B sound fun, but they are not as time/cost efficient as C. yes, it sounds a bit roguish but thats what our cat form was modeled after.

LOOOOOOOOONG story short: you will need + to stealth more than you will need + to armor at the lowbie levels. once you ding more then you can get thick hide.

AHHHHHHHH. Kitty doesn't get armour bonus. Can anyone say noob. In that case, i am infinetly apologies to Quor for ever questioning his brilliance.

hah! i thank you all for the kind words. just doing my job so to speak.

on a side note, kitty DOES get benefit from thick hide. EVERY form does actually. but really, there isnt any kind of armor issue until outlands...maybe. to put things in perspective, i leveled to the late 40's on the old old bear/dire bear armor values. this meant my bear form had ~+80% armor, with my dire bear at something like +135%. and armor was never a problem. this was back when thick hide was a 5-pt talent much deeper in the feral tree, and ONLY affected bear form.

so, in other words, the stealth bonus and the threat bonus far outweigh the armor gain from thick hide. armor wont be a problem, and the threat bonus means pve tanking is just that much easier, while the stealth bonus makes pve soloing and kitty-pvp that much safer.

about the only time i could see a druid snagging thick hide pre-60 would be if they wanted to twink out at a specific level. for instance, thick hide + warden staff in the 40-49 bracket can make for a real mean flag carrying druid.
