Thanks for the help.

The guild where I am isn't too picky for the shadow priest... I was at 700 unbuffed when I entered Kara the first time (now sitting at 800 and I need some gems, enchants). This guild has Kara on farm status. The only thing bothering me (they haven't talked about it tho) is my mana pool.. around 8700 and it's not enough for the Curator. I got OOM on the adds.

Otherwise, I had never ran OOM for any fight (I was making sure Shadowfiend was always ready for a boss fight) and I could use mana pot of course.

It all depends on your guild, do they have Kara on farm status and can help gearing you up? Are you in a guild where they are learning Kara and they need a solid dps?

You shouldn't be on the adds for curator :) If you are, no one in your group is getting mana/health back and that sorta defeats the purpose of you being there. Get the raid leader to keep you on the curator at all times and have everyone else deal with the adds. We make great soakers, get some AR gear or gear with lots of stamina and blow him up. It's one of my favorite fights for that reason.

To the OP: if you have tailoring, you can easily have 800 shadow dmg before entering Kara, but 700ish is fine. Mana pool isn't a big deal as long as it's above 7000 unbuffed, just make friends with mana potions.

Yea, Curator is a lot harder if you're on the adds. Until you've got the fight down, I' suggest some AR gear and staying on Curator the whole time. Once you've got the fight down well, get rid of the AR gear (let bolts go to whoever they go to), keep VT, SWP, and VE ticking on Curator (throwing out Flays when you have time or need to keep Weaving maxed), and throw Blast/Death/Flays on the adds as needed. Be sure weaving is full stacked before Evocate, and leave the last add to everyone else while you unload on Curator with everything - trinket, plague, blast/death every time they're up. I find it helps to trinket and start the DoTs a few seconds early, so the first tick hits right after he goes into Evocate.
Just watch those SWD crits... :P

OH! great, im making another alt to soak on curator /cry.

Either way im still along ways from 70, let alone Curator fights.

So if i shoot for about 800 shad dmg and say 8k mana unbuffed id be ok, do i understand that right?

800 damage and as close to 76 hit rating as you can get, your mana only need to be 8k+ BUFFED

Your goal should be as close to 76 hit rating as possible (only going a very little over if you must), and if possible 800 or more damage along with that. Basically ignore your mana pool, just keep "of shadow wrath" gear to two or three low-stat slots (wand, cloak, wrists, etc). Learn to love mana pots, use shadowfiend wisely, and you'll be good. On a typical 8 minute Gruul fight, I get about 35000 mana back, so whether I start out with 7k or 10k really isn't going to make a difference.
