This sort of goes with the psychology that goes along with choosing classes. Though it is not 100% true because I find that people with many alts don't fill these roles and seem more balanced.

Warriors: The people who choose warriors are often the people that feel the need to be the big man on campus and be protector/guardians, sort of like a virtual jock thats why they can get arrogant/****** when their role becomes unfulfilled.

Healers: Often are the people who feel a lack of self worth, being a healer makes them feel like they are needed, this is also why you get incompetent healers because of that lack of self esteem.

Rouges: These are the people that burn ants and tear wings off butterfly's, they delight in causing others displeasure.

Hunters: You have your layed back people and your "WTF L2P NOOB" people. This may have something to do with the confusion of a hunters role in a group. The layed back people usualy stand more on the CC/Saving clothies side of hunterness while the angry people think they are there to dps and only dps.

DPS Clothies: Think of a mathlete/chess club guy + jock, they like the idea of being good at dealing damage but usualy are more humble because of their vulnerability.

Again these are traits I've noticed among many players and are not 100% absolute, some people loose these traits with experience, some dont have em in the first place. I am not pointing fingers at any 1.

So if my 1st main was a warrior, and now making my hunter my main, and my main was a Cleric(healer) in EQOA, and a DRG(melee dps) in FFXI, plus I have a Paladin, Rogue, Mage, and Priest alt, then what exactly does that make me in your generalized stereotypes of people that play?

I know, I know, I'm just a weird amalgam of character flaws, but hey, I've accepted my midiocre role in life lol.

So if my...

Some people just like to be well versed... And I love those people because they are the swiss army knives of the guild, need a tank SHAZAM, need a healer KABLAM, need a dps HAM (I couldnt think of an exciting prefix).

What I don't get is why a warrior would be so upset about a hunter pet tanking? When I was leveling my warrior, I loved it when I was actually able to dps in an instance. I didn't get mad, I got excited and happy because it was something new.

Remember, the Bloody Awful Demographic Truth is many players are in their teenage years, and often the maturity is lacking. I played MM for 68 levels before realizing the utility of Hunter CC. Too many times Tanks/Casters/Hunters/(Insert Class Here) fail to realize they can be valuble by going with the flow, even if it means not doing exactly what their Spec is designed for. So they react, and therein plants the seeds of Sponge Tanks, Huntards...etc.

The Moral to the story is: For every Huntard there is a sponge Tank(I love Arms spec spear wielding Tanks....really), an Emo Lock/Priest. A Balance Druid in all STA and AGI gear, a Mage that knows (insert your class here) better than you do, and a Paladin who is blissfully unaware that he has auras other than devotion. And as much as I LOVE to Abuse stupid people, And I truly do, We who know our business should encourage the above mentioned people to band together, so we won't get stuck with them.

Just my two cents, if worth even that...

Nothing wrong with being an Arms spec tank, but I would only wield a spear / other 2-handed weapon if I severely outleveled the instance. For example, I tanked everything in Underbog except for the bosses with my polearm when I was 70. Had no problems holding aggro because everyone else was in the level appropriate range so I was dramatically out-damaging them all. Didn't take much damage either as I was so high of a level with such a high level of gear.

Yes, I'm Sure the GM's would love to come hang out with decent players, and redo GM island as an "Island of Dr. Moreau" for defective WoW players. I mean, they could even have their own Zone only chat so they could THINK they could irritate the rest of us...<sigh> I am a Romantic dreamer at heart.

and Lorimath, You appear to understand the how and why of Arms vs. Tanking specs, I am specifically referring to such wonderful folk as the lvl 69 Arms spec that harassed the everliving crap out of me since I wouldn't let him Tank BM for me the other day. I appreciate players like you, people who understand specs, and gear, and abilities. when I switch Targets and the neex next mobs already has 5 sunders armors on it, I don't think bad things about the Tank. When I see a rend icon on the buff bar, and I have to grab aggro when a clothie gets it, and some Spear-wielding Lunatic Breaks CC from a mob he couldn't hold aggro on in the 1st place, I get Extra-Super Hateful...

I am a hateful person by nature, and this has been reinforced at certain points in my WoW experience, most recently being my Dr. Who mana Tombs Run, I call it that because we went through 7 total MT's, including the aforementioned warrior. I Wasn't 70, so I couldn't MD to help him look less stupid. The party leader had no concept of tanking, and that amounted to 5 hours of my life I can NEVER get back. Lorimath I wish we were on the same server, I'm sure I would enjoy you as a tank, but you have already demonstrated knowledge of working game concepts, and are thus in a different league, more like a different sport, than the Goobers I so readily abuse.

That was a little more long winded than I had hoped, I just feel rather passionately, as I have worked very hard, not to be a Huntard. And sometimes the pure mediocrity tolerated from many other classes frustrates me.

Good Hunting.
