My question is for anyone who is successufully running Kara. I Am currently on my second key frag and should be done with my keying before tomorrow. My question is will I be able to have good runs through Kara without grinding for some of the 5 man sets. I would like to get the oblivion set but if I can avoid that grind to get the Kara gear I will. I also dont want my Kara group to suffer. Our guild has it on farm status but we are starting a 3rd Kara group.

thanks for any advice.

Don't go in unprepared. It's a place to farm epics which means when you start going in your gear should be 80%+ composed of blues. The remaining 10% should be split between epics and greens, imo. Oblivion set isn't the only thing out there. You can toss in some mana-etched regalia, epics from heroics and PvP gear when you're headed into Kara without too much trouble.

While we're on the subject, how prepared do you think I am by my Armory? I read your Thread on "Preparing for Kara" and I agree whole heartedly. I'm a BM run away form it but wanna make sure I'm not going to drag my Guild down going in even though I've got the spot already.

I'd recommend you drop those points in Suppression and place them into Empowered Corruption, and do the same for Improved Healthstone and Intensity. I'd also recommend you focus on +hit gear (go in with at least 40) and +crit gear. I am not sure, but I'd upgrade my gear to a full set of imbued Netherweave.

I have the points in Suppression due to my lack og +Hit gear. I intended to take them out once I got a little more then actually put them into Malediction, the only other Aff lock in our runs doesn't have it I think. And the 2 points in Imp HS are going to move into Intensity soon, no idea why I didn't put them there originally.

Few things will be changing soon. Imbued Netherweave gear I will be making either tonight or tomorrow, plus those pants are essentially placeholders. Also getting the Scryer inscription on the Shoulders tomorrow and once I make the Imbued Netherweave pants, I'll be putting the Runic spellthread in them, or whatever the Honored one's called.

It all depends on your guild. If they are already clearing prince - then I wouldn't bother worrying about gear at all - so long as they are happy to gear you up ofc.

The first few bosses in Kara are really about execution more than gear. But you will need decent gear once you hit the shade.

When my guild started doing alt runs - we were in really quite crap gear - but because we had done the place so many times - we got away with really having quite attrocious gear. That's not to say you can get away with it - but I'm illustrating that execution > gear on the most part in Kara.

You're running a bit shallow in the spell power department, but not by much. The inscriptions and armor kits will cover a significant portion of the difference and you may want to put in the effort of getting an arena weapon (even the season 1 weapon is a big upgrade and worth getting, season 2 is just amazing) and getting your reputation up so you can run heroics. Heroic dungeon badges make for a couple good upgrades. It would net you a new head piece, an amazing trinket, a pretty good offhand, etc. Obviously they take time, but it's something to work on while you're gearing your way through Kara.

Yeah, I've only been 70 for less than a week at this point so I'm fairly noobish in terms of rep and level 70 5-man experience/gear, but I planned fairly well prior to dinging 70. Had my FSW shoulders made by 69 and have most of the Primal Waters and Fire/Shadows to make my Boots next. Spell dmg+ is mainly what I'm working on improving at this point, along with +Spell hit, although I consider +Spell crit my 4th priority in terms of stats (Spell dmg+ > Spell Hit+ > Stam > Spell crit+), but I'm still semi trying to build that up as well, through the inscription and more than likely get Blasting Enchant for my Gloves. Waiting to get some decent Gloves first though.

Going to be starting to do Arena's with a Shaman friend of mine tonight I think. Not going to take it too seriously until I've got the Gear to support it, but we wanna start getting in our 10 games a week for points. Also, I'd have my Veteran Bracers if I'd ever remember to go to Org and pick 'em up. lol Those will be getting the +Spell Hit Gem socketed into them I think.
