So I'm a 375 Herbalism/Elixir spec Alchemist. Into my lap falls a recipe for Boots of Utter Darkness today from a guildie worth ~600g. Now, considering that said boots are BoP, do you think it would be worth it to get rid of Herbalism for Leatherworking, powerlevel it to 375 in a week and make the boots myself? They are "apparently" some of the best boots for Rogues right now.
Opinions/lols/criticisms welcome.

They are indeed some rather nice pair of boots, however I would never drop my alchemy or herbalism for just 1 item. If you are raiding you should get something rather good soon anyway. And the masters treads aren't so bad.
But, if you never get your own herbs(doubt it) then you might consider dropping herbalism.

The thing is, getting Herbalism back to 375 would take all of maybe a day or two of just collecting herbs and vendoring or making an alt to AH them all.
It's the cost of getting LW to 375 that seems prohibitive. Maybe if I took skinning to 375 to farm the mats first, but that's incredibly time-consuming.

If you are doing kara+ than just get the boots from Morose as fast as you can. IIRC they are of similar quality to that crafted pair (though I think the edgewalkers do edge the crafted ones out just a bit). If you aren't raiding at all, then you can go for it. You won't have a chance to get anything better than those w/o raiding - as that pattern is an SSC drop anyway.

Edgewalkers have a high-ish drop rate, and they do indeed own. I dropped leatherworking, wasn't worth it for me.

Don't forget that with 375 Elemental LW you can also make the Primalstrike set, which is incredibly decent rogue gear.
1-375 sucks. And you gotta consider you will be buying all mats off AH if you don't drop Alchemy.
