Blacksmithing as a warriorFollow

I just started leveling my old dwarf warrior as I want another lvl 70 character with which to do some PvP and some odd PvE instances.

Considering PvP is what I aim for the most, I of course go for an Arms build and have just chosen Master Mace Smith as my profession.

Now I actually started thinking whether that was a mistake.

Looking at the lowest available 2H Mace - Thunder - this is item level 107. Now considering the next level - Deep Thunder is item level 123 and requires 8 Primal Nethers, which is hard to come by (I imagine dps warriors aren't the most welcome class in a heroic 5-man instance). The Stormherald is amazing and is item level 136, but requires 25-man instance runs (sure my guild is about to start some of those, but I doubt an alt warrior will be allowed to tag along to get 5 Nether Vortex).

Now looking at the Merciless weapons I see the Merciless Bonecracker at item level 136 and "only" 3.750 arena points.

So basically my question goes - is blacksmithing (I suspect the same goes for armor smiths) even worth taking as a dps warrior aiming for PvP?

itll be far, far easier for you to get a deep thunder than it will to get an arena mace, assuming youve got the skill already. farming the mats for thunder can take as little as a single day. deep thunder can take as little as a day if youre willing to run 6 heroics or so and spend your badges on nethers (and the people you run them with will give you the nethers of course).
