Ports to IF, SW, and Exo are typically 1g, can be more if the mage has to come to you. Darn can be a bit more expensive, since the mage needs to be higher level. Shatt I've seen go for between 2g to 5g.

Generally 1g, though after reading this I may up my fee for a ride to Shat, particularly if the requester is <58. Gotta pay for your lack of patience, sonny!

Ports for groups after an instance are always offered and free.

Dilbert, how much do you tip for lockboxes? Obviously it would depend on the lockbox level.

WOW 1g for steel and up? Either I'm a cheapskate or you're king of the tippers. It's been a while but iirc the goodies inside steel boxes ain't that great. I suppose with the disenchanting option you mentioned, it might be worth it, but I'd think just barely.

I usually ask 1G for a port anywhere. But a lot of higher level will give 2-3 gold. It's mostly due to having to stop what i'm doing. I'll even anwser requests from Darn if they offer 3G for the port (i'm usually in IF).

Ports for guildies or group members are free, always.

I will not port you in exchange for a regeant.

I've seen someone ask me to join my group when I did a port for someone else. I told him ports were 1G each (I wasn't group leader) and the timer on it was almost gone. The reply I got was: "it's ok, I was just asking. I have a mage too." Funny thing was he was on a priest character and his mage can't help him. (unless he has two accounts which I doubt)

Someone else offered me 2 bottles of level 25 water. I laughed at that one and ported him for free.

I'll port lowbies for free/tips. I don't ever charge anything, but let people just tip. I find I get more that way. ;-) There are a few that will give me some kind of fish or something as a tip (lol).

I would not ever port someone who didn't ask nicely and would never charge a guildie (and would not accept a tip from one) for a port.

I give ports for free if they ask nice, if they ask like "lolzorz i am need prt for shatt and i will give u 1 goldz!" I just don't respond. I'm probably going to start charging loads of money for ports so people will just leave me alone because I get about 3 whispers a day asking for a port to Shatt or TB. I've had people in Undercity asking for a port to Silvermoon. I've had someone in Tanaris asking for a port to Shatt while I am in Netherstorm, and when I told him to find someone closer he said "but i need to go to shatt and theres no1 closer and u can just go to shatt and then take the portal to org and then fly to tanaris and you get 30s plz plz plz plz plz plz plz i need this plz plz plz" I ended up putting him on ignore.

Really if you ask nice and format your sentance to not be "lolzorz i need teh port for my mudkipz!" then you can probably get it for free or very cheap from any mage.

I set my hearth to shatt and never use ports anymore except for after an instance, when a mage will usually just set up a port without people even asking.

If your hearth is down invite a friend to a group, make him leader, duck into a nearby instance and leave the group!

A hunter came up with the idea to ask a mage to port him somewhere, he'd pay 3 gold. Then the hunter made himself 'at war' with some faction in a city, and misdirected a ranged attack onto the mage.

Guess who died?

It seems the same for me too.

I port people for free. If they offer a tip, I'll take it, if they don't, I don't mind. It's 16 silver? I don't care about the cost. Just don't ask me for a port while I'm busy in a guild meeting.

On my server it seems the general price for anyone who wants a port anywhere is 5g. At leasts thats what they always tip me for anywhere it seems, even Azeroth to Azeroth ports.

As for most people though.... I swear I am going to start charging 15g each soon, mostly for low lvl guild members!! The guild I am in (for.... now....) has been over run with low level "Omg 70's must help me at all times!!" people.

The last 3 ports I have stopped what I was doing and given was from
a: STV.. the middle of it
b: Un'goro Crater... the middle of it, after waiting for corpse runs from Dino's..
c: Uldaman... inside the instance....

My main new rule is, if you aren't in a town, don't ask me! If you get to a major city and ask me.. but I have an instance invite in the 30+ min's it takes you you to finnaly get there, you are just SoL.

I am the only lvl 70 mage.... I just can't stand it anymore!

usually about 50s or 1g if I am in the middle of something if I have to go somewhere else.
