Question: Added AP from trinket/Don Santos etc. stack...?Follow

#1 Sep 08 2007 at 9:38 PM Rating: Good
For those items that grant a boost to AP on use, or chance on hit, etc...does anyone know if those effects stack?

In other words, if I had a Skyguard Silver Cross and a Don Santos World Famous Hunting Rifle, would it be possible for both boosts to proc at/near the same time and grant a cumulative bonus?

The reason I ask is because I've been drooling over the idea of getting a Don Santos WFHR since just before I hit level 70. Sadly (?) there hasn't been one show up on auction on my server for months, and even if it did it would probably be exhorbitantly priced. In the meantime, I've been accumulating materials to have a guildie make me a Khorium Balanced Destroyer when they cap Engineering and get into some Heroics. If the AP bonuses can't stack, I'd feel much better about going with the crafted epic gun vs. the world drop. If they do stack..well...hrmm...that would just be a bit too cool to pass up.

Unless I'm just absolutely out to left field and the Skyguard trinket is for melee AP only, in which case..

Booooo!

Thanks ^^

Most AP effects stack. The ones that don't typically share an activation cool down which prevents them from stacking, such as two Trinkets. The Skyguard Silver Cross gives AP, which applies to both RAP and MAP. It should stack with the Santos buff, although I don't own either item. I'm Exalted with the Skyguard, but I prefer my AP buffs to be static and not to require that I land the killing blow, which seems to be the way most/all of the "when you kill a target" items work. I do ride their fine looking Purple Riding Nether Ray, however. IMO it is vastly superior to the Netherdrakes, no huge wingspan to obscure my view.

skyguard trinket is pure suck anyway.
it procs when you kill something.
And when you kill the fight is over.
If the fight is over, the boost is useless.
a.k.a the trinket is useless.

Damn, and I'm using Bladefist's Breadth and Core of Ar'kelos, which both give 200 ap when activated. I had no idea they didn´t stack.
When I tried it out just now, at least I was able to pop them in succession, so I activated the second one when the effect of the first one wore off.

I have Don Santos, and it seems to stack with trinkets though. On my server I went for 1000 g on the AH. The Gyro Balanced Khorium Destroyer usually goes for 1500-1700, but if I could afford it I would go for that one instead.

It's a 30% chance to boost your AP for 30 seconds when you kill a mob that gives honor or experience, and cannot activate more than once every 10 seconds. In other words, it would be conceivable to have it proc repeatedly and not wear for some time. There are two scenarios where I am fighting things: solo, in which case I'm on to the next mob as soon as the first dies; in instances, where most fights (sometimes to include bosses) are multi-pulls, so if it procs on the second mob I have the buff for the rest in the pull. As well, since it's a chance to proc just for having it equipped, I'm curious to see if it stacks with another tricket (ie. Bladefist's).

If you're the kind of person who kills something and then spends 30 seconds scratching your head wondering what to do next then ya, I can see it not being worth it for you. I prefer a faster pace.

I dont waste time, but rather often after a fight you are busy for most of those 30 seconds either traveling to your next target, waiting for a patrol to pull etc etc.
And in fights where it actually really matters (a.k.a bossfights) it doesnt do crap.

The fact that it is also only 140 AP and thus gives hardly more then Bladefist's Breadth (200 AP over 20 seconds) and that it will be partially or fuly wasted often i just cant appreciate it.
These kind of trinlkets are at their best when you are grinding, where the only thing it does is either get you aggro from your pet early in the fight or make the fight a few seconds shorter.

In my opinion, this trinket proves very clearly that colour isnt everything so i'd go with Hourglass of the unravveler + heroic badge trinket/bladefist's breadth

I've seen the Don Santos WFHR at the AH for 2,000g+ on my server. Great gun, but that is just ridiculous. Don't know if it sold or not.

Ya, I wouldn't go bankrupting myself for it, that's for sure. If I saw one and the price was even semi-reasonable (ie. < 1500g) I'd buy it...and then sell the 20 Khorium Bars, 12 Primal Fire and 12 Primal Air I've got set aside for my Khorium Destroyer to offset the cost. Either that or I'd just give them to the guildie that was planning on making the Destroyer for me...when they hit 375 engineering...and level 70...and get a Primal Nether. Then they could make the gun and we couple split the proceeds (or give it to another level 70 Hunter guildie).

Anywhoo...

I know the Skyguard Silver Cross isn't the best trinket out there, but for < 4g you can't go wrong, and it suits my playstyle (I have Bladefist's Breadth on my action bar but I've probably used it a whole of 3 times in the last month). Knowing it has the option to stack with the Savagery buff from other trinkets and Don Santos (if I could ever find one) is useful information.

Meh, the silver cross is better that most other trinkets when turbo grinding though

Well, I'm getting a Don Santos for 1550g this week, and I have a Skyguard Silver Cross, so I can let you know. :)

(It's a ton of money, I'm having to borrow more than 100g to get it, but I don't have anything else to spend money on!)

As epic world drops go, from what I've seen Don Santos WFHR is right up there in the top end of the pricing scale, mainly because it qualifies easily in the top three pre-raid ranged weapons for a Hunter. I've been checking my realm's auction daily for one and haven't seen it, but I stand at the ready to nab one if it does show up. I should be exalted with Skyguard by Friday/Saturday at the latest (possibly Thursday night if I feel like grinding some bird men in Skettis). Then I can put my 4g to the test and see if the Silver Cross suits my playstyle more than the other trinkets I have.
