Paladin FAQ 2.0 (Please read here before posting)Follow

I am currently playing on Oceanic - Frostmourne - Low

I have quite a few questions to ask. I am dual leveling with my friend Latire were both blood elf paladins. I read the whole Paladin guide and so did he so were very well aware of what paladins do. (Very nice guide)

What I am not sure of is things to go if were dual leveling to 70. I am going Holy and he was thinking of going Retribution. I also read a part of the guide (Paladin Grinding Zones) Could these apply to duel levelers? Should we pick up quests while in those grinding zones? So heres somethings I hope someone can clear up for me.

1. Advice on our dual leveling build (Holy,Prot) or (Holy,Ret) Speaking level wise or survival wise.

2. Should we use those grinding zones?

3. Do we do quests in those grinding zones?

4. Any other tips for two paladins that are dual leveling?

(Side Note) He is going to respec Protection later on of course.

1. For leveling.... the best would probably be Ret,Ret. You will blow through quests much faster, and nowadays quests are the best source of experience. Before patch 2.3, grinding was more effecient and AoE grinding was the best way for someone to level. Since you are going Holy, then I guess Holy,Ret will be the best if you plan on questing and Holy, Prot will be best if you use the grinding zones.

2. You can use them if you want, but the slightly faster way to level is questing now, so you can decide for yourselves if you want to just quest it out or keep AoE grinding mobs over and over and over again.

3. Yeah if you want some more exp.

4. Ummmm.... I think it would be best if you just both went Ret and maybe respecced in your mid-60s, or just waiting until 70 to respec. I say this because for most healing applications until then, you don't need to be holy. If one of you carries a healing set for "tough" encounters, then one can heal the other. But for the majority of the time, you won't need to be healing each other, and it will be much quicker for you both to just be wailing on the mobs.

Great FAQ.My paladin is currently 26.Aerie Peak Server-Sulvain.I'm Ret right now.puting a few pointsin holy for added str, prot for precision and rest is going RET.and SOC rocks.I cast the seal that makes your melee attacks faster-Use judgement the SOC for the win.Use it mostly on harder mobs.Kinda a waist on mobs the same level as myself as by the time i'm done with the combo there almost dead lol.Using an Onyx Sword right now 2h.That hammer you get from the level 21 quest.Would that be better to use.cause my stats focus on str and stam right now.Just wondering lol still kinda new at pally's in wow but man there so much fun and can take so much damage while i watch rogues fall, mages fall my paladin stands with REZ waiting lol.And Capjack I love your build on your BE pld.Take care my fellow brothers and sisters of the shield.

I'll try and start in on this... ...
Yes, casting Seal of the Crusader followed by SoC is a great tactic.
What sword are you talking about? I can't find any entry for an "Onyx Sword"... Verigan's Fist is the 2H Mace that you're speaking of. It is, IMO, the best 2H weapon for a pally until at least the mid 30s, depending on where you're doing your quests/grinding.
Glad you enjoy your pally.

Side note: And you edited that 2x?

Yeah I know I did.Had to correct the typos.Comes from typing way to fast.I've got the veragin's fist hammer. The sword I had i had bought from the AH.Was a blue.Onyx Blade or Sword.Had it enchanted with minor impact. Now i'm level 29 and wondering what good weapon to get next.I really really like 2h swords. But maces are cool.

Well fixed up the colors to match up the new format. It's a bit more readable now.

Hey CapJack, don't forget to add that if you do not pick up the "Seeking the Kor Gem" quest in Auberdine the Kor Gem will never drop outside of the BFD instance. Quest is given by Thundris Windweaver in Auberdine.

This guide saved my WoW career. Someone over in the general forums pointed me to it. I should have read this first, but since I played a Paladin in another game, I looked at tha guides that had 'Tanking', and 'Defense and Mitigation' in the titles first, which caused me to become thoroughly confused.

I do have a suggestion in that this guide should be titled differently so that it stands out as one of the first things to read, rather than the other threads which have a focus on stats and terminology that just confuse people who are just starting out.

CapJack - thank you for putting this guide together.

Could use updated links for the talent builds since 3.0 rearranged all the trees.

In the meantime, here's what I'm using on my own Pally while I level. It's done well enough for AoE grinding, single-target, and tanked a couple of BC instances so far.

Prot Levelling Build As of Lv 63
